Setup for Shore Tope?

Apologies if this has been discussed before, but can anyone advise on what rod & reel would be best suited to targeting tope from the shore? Am going to try a couple of marks in Ireland this summer and would appreciate advice from anyone doing similar.

7000 size reel FULL of line, with a long shockleader!! I reckon any beach rod will handle them, afterall you get 70lbers on uptiders quite happily.

Here in IOM we use standard beach gear. Any beach rod will cope, as will 6500 size reels loaded with 15lb line. I have had them on 6500 mag elite, but I much prefer the ratchet facility of the Penn 525 or Slosh 20. The sound of a screaming ratchet as the tope picks up the bait is enough to get the legs shaking
