Baked in salt if I remember correctly - but that was pre-Salar. :rolleyes: Yes I do have a spirit stove on board but I'm not so keen to devour my catch that I can't wait until I get into my comfortable kitchen at home. Cuisine a la Salar is usually Lidls Chili from a tin and a big handful of tortilla chips. Warms the belly on a cold day

i normally start my fishing in sept. true theer are red cod here all summer too. The ones we get in sept are a mix of red and fresh run white fish. mostly we get white fish at night with coloured rough seas, and red cod through the day with clear flat calm waters.

i usually get some real good bags of codling in sept.

the summer resident cod usually take on a red tint. i heared a few reasons for this, i aint sur which is true. camoflage in kelp? eating things in the kelp which contain iodine from the kelp?

 

i even heared red cod go blind - not sure if this is true?
