Well looks like no one’s got one then. Can anybody suggest a bivvy around the £100 mark or should I bye a double skin tent, must be 2 man though. Any suggestion guys. Thanks in advance.

Yeah I did notice that, I wonder if they have made a mistake on the price because as you say it's £30 more for the free sleeping bag Still it looks a good price for the bivvy without the free sleeping bag, but I would rather ask someone who's got one first to see what there like.

Thanks for the reply guys. The thing is Budgie, I told the guy what I wanted it for. You would think that he would sell me a braid that sinks knowing I wanted to make hair rigs for carp fishing. One thing that puzzles me though, is what is this braid used for as it can't be for main line as there's not enough on the spool ?

After getting fed up with paying £1.50 for my ready tied hair rigs I decided to tie my own. I had a go with nylon and all looked ok, so off I went to my local fishing shop to get some braid. I was recommended some silkworm made by kryston £8.95 for 20m so home I came and started to tie some up ready. After cutting a few pieces off I noticed on the packaging that it said weightless in water. So I made one up and popped it in a bowl of water to see how it looked. Oh dear, the hook sank and so did the swivel at the other end but the braid in the middle comes up and floats. Will this spook the fish or should I put some shots on to keep it down or is this braid no good for hair rigs. Regards Mark.

cheers seph, just what I needed to know

I’m trying to prepare some hemp for the first time myself. I’ve left it to soak for 24 hours. Now I understand that I bring it to the boil and simmer it for about half an hour until I see the seeds splitting open. What I would like to know is what do I do with it after this, when it has cooled down. Do I drain all the water off then just put in a bag and freeze and what if I’m going to use it over the weekend. Do I leave it standing on it’s own or put some water in to stop it drying out. Also I’ve been told to keep the water, as it’s good for mixing with my groundbait. How do I keep this just in a bottle and if so how long will it keep. Regards Mark.

As the title says, what braid do you all use for tying your own hair rigs. I've had a go at tying my own with nylon and they look ok but would like to use braid. Many thanks in advance. Mark.

Thanks guys for the advice, I'll get some smaller hooks for when im using maggots next time. The thing is the fishing shops around here are 90% for sea fishing and not a lot of stock in for coarse fishing. I thought with asking the guy who owned the shop that I would be getting good advice and took his word for it as I wasn't sure where to start ? Anyway thanks once again. Mark.

Hi all, went to go fishing the other day and needed some hooks to nylon for my float fishing. As Ive been using size 14 hooks as recomended by the shop owner I looked for some more of the same only to find he had none in stock, I asked the owner who said try size 12. So off I went with my size 12's and some maggots. During the day I had many bites but could not hook hardly any of them, every time I reeled in I found the maggot had been sucked empty just leaving the skin on the hook. Why was this ? was it because they were small fish and my hooks were to big or that I was to slow in striking.

Thanks for the reply guys. As regards to my local fishing, I have only fished one lake as im just getting used to setting up the float and catching some fish. There are a few other waters near to me that I havent yet been to so Im not really sure as yet what sort of fish are on offer there. The idea as seph said regarding a rod with different tips would probably be my best bet then I can just change the tips to account for the type of fishing I am expecting. Are there any other rods in that sort of frame bracket that I could choose from. Im not really looking on spending loads on one rod as there are lots of other equipment I am needing to get.

Hello all, I've been coarse fishing now only a couple of weeks with my float rod and having a whale of a time but notice some people fishing with what i know now to be a feeder, a little plastic tube type of thing which they put maggots or ground bait in. What I would like to know is what sort of rod do I need for this type of fishing as I've been looking at various ad's and the amount of rods to choose from is starting to make my head hurt. Some are light medium and heavy ? some seem to come with 3 tips and some dont ? I dont want to make a mistake and buy the wrong rod. Also why were on the subject, what about a carp rod I notice these come in different types with test curve, how do I know which one of these to choose. My normal lake holds carp to about 20lb but I will be trying other lakes where carp are in there 30's. Thanks in advance guys Mark.

Hello everyone my name is Mark and i live on the South Wales coast near Cardiff, been sea fishing since i was a kid, 36 now and have just taken up coarse fishing. I purchased one of the Hyperloop 390 rods that someone pointed out on here from argos for £22.50, got some floats, hooks to nylon, line and shots etc bait and off i went. Ive had loads of fun infact i cant remember for a long time since i was young fishing and enjoying it so much. Up to now ive had about 15 carp up to about 10lb and lots of other fish like bream, roach, rudd and a nice barbell (boy can they fight) Anyway enough from me for now, just thought i would say hello. Great forum by the way.
