  1. Thanks for the advice mate. I used to use longish hooklenths but I will try shortish ones when I next get out, which looking at the weather report for the weekwend could be a while. Cheers Ginger angler
  2. Can anyone detail a few rigs for catching bream and also what baits do you find work best, last year I had a few sessions for bream but my results were poor using casters, maggots, tinned sweetcorn and worms all I got were a few skimmers and lost a few bream fishing in the middle of the canal or towards the reeds at the back. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Cheers Ginger angler

  4. Did he look like this. One i caught earlier .
  5. Alrite lads, completely forgot about this post, i haven't had chance to put all your excellent advice into use but I sure will next time i am on the bank, and the worm approach is something I will definately be trying, but the spinning setup is something i can't do because i am young, naive and unfortunately stuck for cash, but i will invest in a spinning rod in the future. Thanks again for all your advice.
  6. Over the last couple of months since i started fishing i have been catching lots of perch, plenty of little ones and a few bigger ones on maggots. However i would like to catch some really big ones, something around 2-3lb would be nice. how do you go about finding these big perch on canals and is there anything i could do to attract them into the area of my bait and avoid some of the smaller ones. Livebaiting smaller perch or roach is something i am thinking about, putting fishy oil and tuna grounbait into the water via a small meshbag is something worth considering as well. Do you have anything to add. I wil let you know how i get on.........
  7. The one of the golf course, don't you have to pay membership for that.
  8. Widnes! i am from the ditton area mate, there is a few local waters around widnes, the canal by spike island and the ponds in clincton woods, they are not to bad for perch at the moment and carp in the summer.
  9. where abouts in mersey side are you Spud
  10. Boozlebear, the canal were we were fishing had dropped loads so we were fishing in about 3 foot of water about 4 foot out from the bank,Glenn B red maggots seem to be the best, we tried some white ones but the perch just were not interested. Most of the bites came beetween 11.00 am and 14.00pm after that the action slowed up so i think i will go a little earlier next time.
  11. Out on the canal today for a few perch, The first cast of the day produced this little beauty Then wen't on to catch about 15 more perch, then my mate who had set his carp rods up further up the canal packed up and joined me for a go on my rod and he accounted for about 5 more perch and one little roach, One of his perch was the biggest of the day All in all a good day on the canal
  12. Thanks lads great help..........
