Thanks for your help it reads where statutory coarse fishing closed season has been removed, angling clubs can introduce their own closed season if they so wish.ps hope you didn't drop any of your fish on the carpet.

the closed season is now upon us but the thing thats puzzling is that in both the clubs I'm in the rules say we can still fish the river using certain baits such as maggots.the use of cerial baits +meat is forbidden,can I take this to mean we can fish the rivers for trout even though the coarse fish eat maggots ?its a tad confusing.

Will hemp seed I bought last year be alright to use this season, its the stuff you buy in bags from the pet shop?

I went to a trout farm at kilnsey in the yorkshire dales the aquarium there was not very good but the trout we saw were enormous ,some of them were orange which looked really odd.

I have only seen the odd canoeist on waters where I fish and they seemed very courteous and tried to avoid causing me any disruption.on the other hand though what about barges on the canal in midsummer ,its like the m1 they might as well be tied together end to end, the people driving them seem ok though.

which hooks do most anglers prefer to use, barbed or barbless ? I tend to use barbless because they are easy to remove but I do lose a lot of fish.

Has anybody ever genuinly left their club licence at home then been asked for it on the bank?what happened?

As any body caught any tench yet ? my mate suggested we should try fishing for tench as its been fairly mild weather,I think its far too early.
