  1. flamingo land is a theme park in north yorkshire in england.
  2. this morning i got a brochure through the door like i do every year from flamingo land, as i got to reading through it i noticed it said it had a fishing lake?, has anyone ever been on it or fished on it? if so what fish does it host and of what size?
  3. well i returned from my 4 days away, i fished 2 and half days out of those 4 days and came up with nothing which i was'nt to fussed about as it was still a good few days out, i took some pictures and only just got the chance to upload them, if none of you know where wing lakes is , its near stamford in lincolnshire, the lakes are small lakes, just both over an acre in size, but produce decent fish with the biggest there on record as being a 27lb common carp which i think isnt to bad considering the size of the lakes. if any of you fancy giving the lakes a try here is the website www.winghall.co.uk , they offer camping at £6 per night, and they rent out lodges aswell as being able to take your caravan there aswell. fishing is usually £7 for a day ticket but if you are staying on the site its £4, it says boilies are not permited aswell as groundbait, but the balliff himself allows you to use them.
  4. im planning on trying that fiz bomb groundbait where you through in a few alka seltzers and stuff into your ground bait to give that extra bit of attraction
  5. hi, i was just wondering if anyone has fished there before? if so what is it like? and if you buy a weeks ticket are you able to stay and camp at the lake for the full week?
  6. im a bit up in the air about the temperature for fishing for carp. i know that when its a bit to cold they tend not to feed, so i came back from my fishing trip today, i caught nothing while i was there, which im not to fussed about because it was pretty cold and snowed the night before. but i want to go fishing on friday at my local place, and the weather is going to be 8 degrees. is it worth trying or not ? the pond itself isnt big at all its just under an acre in size and is a circle shaped pond if thats any help
  7. the whole outlook for the weather has changed, the wind is only 8mph, and its 8 degrees..lets hope i do well
  8. the wind has now gone up to 21mph northerly wind for sunday..will it still be worth fishing?, i know it probably will b..i can put up with the wind
  9. does line color matter to a fish? does it effect the way you fish? i got some line that i got of the internet and theyve sent the wrong color.. its like a lightish green color. ( probably a stupid question to ask lol )
  10. the temperature for my 1st days fishing on the sunday is looking like its going to be around 8 degrees. now will that decrease my chances of catching?
  11. i'm looking for a little advice on windy conditions, because as you all know we've been having some bad winds, and ive checked the weather forecast for the rest of the week for where im going and on the saturday it says winds of around 22mph, but i'm not fishing until the sunday. is wind of that speed ok for fishing in? or is it not worth it? i mean ive never fished in windy conditions before its always been decent weather minus wind. can anyone give me some advice on how it may affect my fishing?
  12. has anyone been out in the past couple of days ? whether it be eyeing up some swims, looking for carp? or fishing? let me know as i like to read people's stories?
  13. i think you would of been better off getting it off ebay, like a second hand adobe. would of been less hassle.
  14. hi , i noticed your post about lakes in essex and so forth with campsites? well i know this is nowhere near essex but is worth the travel. www.winghall.co.uk they have a campsite for tents and caravans. it is 6 pound per night.. and has 2 lakes owned by wing hall, the lakes are accessable by car and foot.. it is a 10 minute walk down the country and it is a brilliant setting.. really really nice. the lakes are stock with , carp ( common, mirror and ghost ) , bream, tench and perch. it really is a brilliant setting really really nice.. and the average catch of a carp is 15lbs, i got 2 15lb carp while i was there..it really is nice.. it is only 2 hours away from you.

  16. what kind of budget would i be looking at to build a pretty decent sized pond? i want to build a pond and maybe house some mirror and common carp of small sizes.
  17. hi scott, this should help you out a fair bit http://www.go-fish.co.uk/yorkshiresouth.htm
  18. yeah im pretty decent with my knots, im just useless with my rigs.
  19. i never normally have the patiences for making rigs, but i gave it a go today, i did a stumpy rig, and a maggot feeder type rig with tubing on it aswell.. i was just wondering if you could tell me whether they would do the job for catching carp?
  20. well the 1st time i went to the lakes i didnt fish, i was just throwing in a few oily halibut pellets and some maggots and the carp were going pretty loopy, they were taking the pellets the second they hit the water and they were doing leaps out of the water aswell.. each lake is over a acre but for its smallish size it is fairly stocked, it is down in the middle of the country owned by wing hall.. and it is a brilliant tranquil setting, ill be sure to get photos for you all to look at when i return. but i hope i have some luck..
  21. i know that water temperature will effect my fishing, but at what extent?, will i definently not catch anything?, will it make it harder?, and what have been your results during this cold weather?
  22. ok, thanks for the help, also i was wondering if you could help me on a few more things. ill be going to wing lakes in oakham, near stamford on april 5th which is a saturday, i wont be fishing until the sunday so would it be a good idea to bait up the spot with my preferred baits the day before i actually start fishing?, baring in mind they do not allow groundbait or boilies. baits of choice are, maggots, halibut pellets, red and yellow sweetcorn and a few others. i will be fishing for a total of 3 or 4 days
  23. well i got myself some ready made rigs where you just need to attached the weight. its a rig from pallatrax , the stonze system. its called a stumpy rig i think, and its said to be ideal if your just attaching the weight and a pva bag full of goodies to the hook with ur bait.
