  1. Only carp and tench? B******s! I saw them taking nice bream out of there before the renovations! Sign of the times, unfortunately.

  3. But surely the 'advertising' in the articles is written BY the sponsored anglers? Doesn't this mean, then, that the editor has little influence over which products the angler uses, and talks about using? Or am I being hopelessly naive?

  5. Apparently Albert Park has just reopened after renovations. I don't know if they've put the fish back in yet, but before they drained it they were shown taking some nice bream and a few tons of shopping trolleys out.

  7. Phil, I've been heavily exam bound. Finished that, and now am expected to get a summer job. I am fully aware that in the 'real world' I'd be working all year, but things are getting a bit stressful. Anyway, how are you and what do you think about this kind of 'tackle touting'? TTFN SA

  9. Sorry, but I'm going to play devil's advocate here. As anglers, don't we all know that a sponsored angler is going to push their sponsor's products? I would have thought it would follow that if an angler says 'I used a 0.07mm Drennan Team England hooklength', then we know that they're using a 0.07mm hooklength, which doesn't have to be Drennan. Or if someone says 'I'm using Fox bite alarms' we know that we don't necessarily have to use Fox. The moral: just ignore the brand! Surely we can see that these anglers are saying they use these products because they're sponsored by them? Surely also, shouldn't we expect the anglers to give something back to their sponsors, many of whom are effectively paid to be full time anglers? Maybe I see this from a different perspective, as a match angler.

  11. Go for the Shimano Technium competition. GREAT reviews in all the angling press, and seemingly, cracking value. Try this link: https://secure.wmac.co.uk/acatalog/poles.html

  15. On the other side of things, Jan Porter apparently was the guitarist in an early version of Def Leppard - or so I'm told. TTFN Steve Armstrong
