Has anyone ever caught a brown trout from a river in leicestershire? I have heard there might be some in the river sense but i dont know anything about the river. Are there any club waters with them becuase i would really like to catch one using coarse tackle. I really want to fish more rivers in leicestershire and im from thurlaston so the only river i have fished is the thurlaston brook and a section of the river soar near wrothely. Does anyone know of good sections of river to fish?

Hi for awhile i have been fishing a small river close to my home, when i say small its not even 10 foot wide at its widest. This stretch is only small at about 50 yards and is quite over grown as no1 but me fishes it. Since i have started fishing this section i have had chub to 3.08lb and perch to 1.04lb with some roach and rudd being caught aswell. Its not an easy venue with catches of only a few perch and roach a session being normal and rarely a chub is caught. I plan on fishing it for some larger perch as i know they live in small rivers but im not sure if this river will have big fish in it because it is so small. I've tried a couple of sessions with worms and maggots and had some fish of just over a pound and had some smaller ones on fry i have netted. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas how to catch some larger fish. The river is slow moving and shallow at around 2 and a half foot at its deepest with no promenant slack water or bends. There are plenty of tree roots in the water with some snags also. I have saw a larger perch nipping the tail of a small perch i was bringing in but thats it. In the summer i tried using fry and had a few fish but now its winter im going to find it hard to get the right sized lives... any suggestions? Does anyone have any ideas for fishing it as im going again tommorow for some perch as i have afew left over mixed maggots and i can dig up some worms. The tactic which catches most of the perch is holding the float close to the bank with worm. Heres a picture of one of the swims: any suggestion will be greatly received. Thankyou

Hi, next summer i will be visiting my Grannies house which is in hastings, i dont know there coast well so i would like to know nearby harbours suitable for mullet fishing. Im a complete novice to them but i do have plenty of coarse gear which i can set up for them. if some1 can tell me all i need to know about them and the local area and hotspots that would be great. Also could some1 tell me the day ticket prices for the harbours around here? thanks

hi next summer im planning on fishing at Merricks Fishery. I have seen that there is gd sized carp and tench but could anyone tell me as much info as possible on this water? also does it get busy in summer and which are the best swims? thanxs!

Hi everyone today i went fishing with my dad to a club water, it was 2 small lakes near wrothley in leicestershire. I started off with tiny rudd a fish a chuck and to be fair they got abit boring after an hour... so just the other side of the hedge is a stretch of the river soar. I quickly set up a stick float and by the end of the session i had a few fish including roach, perch, chublet and quite afew dace. What i was wondering is if anyone fishes this stretch of river and what i can expect to catch. I saw afew better chub topping further down but they wernt taking the bait. Also i was wondering if there are free stretches of the soar or over leicestershire rivers which i could fish. This winter i plan a pike and zander river campaign, but im unsure where to start, i have heard there are afew zander on the soar but i need help pin pointing them. Finally next year i will focus on soar chub and barbel and also i would lik esome1 to tell me specific streches for all these fish. Thankyou very much and tight lines to you all.

Hi i have fished for pike for a while now but this winter i would like to catch my first zed. I live in Leicestershire and the only places i have heard that contain zander are the ashby canal and the river soar. If these rumours are true would it be possible for some1 to tell me the exact swim or area that the caught one or more as i need all the help i can get. Also if i could have help with rigs and baits it would help. I was thinking small live and dead roach off the bottom but wat do you think? thanks!

sorry to spoil that but i hav had a 1 3/4lb barbel from the small lake. I always catch them from there i fish the same swim for them and they are always there

Its never happened to me but what happened was that you hooked a female pike and the male followed her in as he wanted to spawn with her.

I was wondering what the best fish you have from peatling pools is. As far as i know i hold the crucian record there with a massive 3 1/4lb fish from the smallest lake. i did all the appropriate tests from the pictures and im sure its a true cru! My brother had a 3lb perch there aswell in the middel lake.

u were lucky wen i fish there (i live in thurlo) i use sardines for them and i hav had stacks of them almost triple tht size. i just kill the aliens!

has any1 fished these lakes in skegness? im going this weekend and would really appreciate any help about them. In perticualr i would like to catch a good tench. thanx
