  1. Here's a few for now: 1) Sucksex - natural pheromones guarantee increased pulling power! 2) Feedwell/catchwell - the ultimate groundbait for all species 3) Charity Bait - not only does it catch you fish, but it benefits charity as well (come on you manufactures, who wants to sell a bait like this and give a donation to Stoneyandfriends/Macmillan Cancer Relief for every packet purchased)
  2. Neal Why not offer her a nice camping weekend in Hampshire. Book the ticket first, and when she say's no, tell her it would be a waste of money not to use the ticket, so offer to go on your own. At least it looks like you were trying to surprise her with a weekend away!!!!!! Chris
  3. 80 Tickets now sold. 3 weeks to go, so hopefully we will exceed 100 people there. chris http://www.stoneyandfriends.co.uk for more details
  4. Just to let you know that Keith Arthur has kindly agreed to give this event a plug on his talk-sport programmes at the weekend. Therefore, if anyone asks you about it, and where to get more information, can you point them to http://www.stoneyandfriends.co.uk or via me on this site. thanks Chris
  5. It appears to me, that most of the people who really care about angling, it's future and the like, and who are prepared to be vocal in their opinions, visit this website, or some of the other high profile and serious/sensible websites. As has been said by others, both on this post and on the livebaiting post, there are already a large number of bodies/associations out there who "represent" the angling community. Whilst I believe they all operate with good intent, their effectiveness varies from poor to mediocre in most cases. As Scott said in his post which started this thread, what is really needed is "high profile" angling names to be involved. What has also been said is that to co-ordinate everyone would be a full time job. However,is there not a way of co-ordinating something through the main web-sites. From visiting them, there seems to be a number of people that have the opportunity to spend a fair amount of time on line, and could therefore prehaps volunteer to put together a plan for a web based cross class (angling - match, specimen, game, sea etc)organisation, that has the ability to collate and centralize views/issues etc. I know the various controllers of the main websites do speak to each other, and I'm sure between them they have the knowledge to create something on the web that can be accessed from all sites. This is only a suggestion, and has been written as I've thought it, so I appreciate that I have probably overlooked some obvious pitfalls whilst typing this.
  6. 74 Tickets have now been sold. As previously mentioned, we would ideally like 100+ people there. It's only four weeks to go, so if you fancy coming and haven't applied yet, visit http://www.stoneyandfriends.co.uk for your application form. If you are coming, why not see if you can persuade someone else to join you. It makes the social even better, helps spread the cost of petrol etc, and more importantly, helps raise more for Macmillan Cancer Relief. Hope to see loads of you there. Chris

  8. As a matter of interest, how many people from this site are not attending, and other than work/previous commitments, are they any specific reasons that put you off from attending. Only asking, as it's good to get constructive comments from people, especially if it results in us getting more people to attend future events. Chris

  10. There are still some tickets left for anyone who is interested. Please pass this around to as many people as you know. Thanks chris

  12. 69 tickets have now been sold. Last year we had 104 people there, and would like to try and beat that number this year. So, any help in recruiting a few more people would be well received. Pass the message around and lets see if we can get a few more people. Don't forget, it's not just a specialists weekend, as there's something for everybody at Yateley, plus the social is great, and it's all for a worthwhile cause. Chris

  14. MKJ Standard RMC rules apply. These should have been sent out with you ticket etc. If you haven't got them, look on www.rmc.co.uk at the venues and rules pages. The only lake we are using at Yateley which is on a day ticket, is Sandhurst. This can obviously be fished before, subject to availability of tickets. Tickets can either be purchased from RMC via there website, or from Yateley Angling Cente. In both cases, tickets need to be purchased in advance. Which lake are you fishing on the event? Chris
  15. Alright boy's, the jokes over - can I have my false leg back now! I know skinny legs are in vogue, but since when did the tackle trade design boots around Kate Moss' legs!
  16. As a matter of interest, from those of you attending, how are you getting on with fund raising / sponsorship, and what basis are you getting people to you for? chris

  18. Go onto the RMC site and use the search facility. There are loads and loads of threads on there re the pads. Big Al - sorry, there aren't any cats in the Pads - only Split and Match As a general rule, Pads fishes best when not too many people are on the water. For the last two years at the Stoney bashes, when there have been 10 people on the lake, and 20 lines in the water, only one person has caught each time - year before last, Adrian Smith, last year a chap fishing in the same swim with Adrian - different swim each year - so impressive fishing and advice by Adrian.
  19. Fred / Colin Good to hear you are both coming. To all others out there, whether you are coming or not, can you let as many of your angling chums as possible know about the event, as not everyone has access to this or similar sites. As you know, we have set ourselves a considerable challenge in trying to break the £50,000 barrier this year, and therefore we are going to need all the support we can get. In this respect, if anyone has any business contacts who might like to sponsor the event (I'm sure it's tax deductible), either point them in the direction of http://www.stoneyandfriends.co.uk or me. Thanks Chris
  20. Anyone else from this site attending? Lets try and get a list going of whose attending from here! Chris
  21. I work in the Insurance industry, and I feel that in this case, there was definately a case of a mis-understanding. Many policies have exclusions for Professional sportspersons, but the intent is to exclude those that actually get paid for participating in their chosen sport. Whilst there are a number of Anglers that do get paid to fish, or even sponsored to fish (and these may be excluded), I don't believe the intention of any policy is to exclude a casual angler that match fishes for fun. The problem with the insurance industry (and probably others as well) is that they man their claims centres with people on low paid salaries and as the saying goes, if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. The gentleman mentioned in AT and anyone else for that matter who finds themself in a similar position should ask to speak to a claims manager. They should ask for the Insurers written definition of a professional sports person which nine times out of ten, will instantly prove that they are not a professional Don't always take the first response from a claims centre, as invairably, you will be speaking to a fairly young person who follows strict guidelines and sadly either isn't allowed to use common sense, or doesn't have it in the first place. As a last resort, if you are not happy with a claim settlement, you can always apply to the Insurance Ombudsman for a ruling. This costs you nothing, but the Insurer at least £700. Due to the costs for insurers, it's amazing how often they can change their decisions on smaller claims! Chris
  22. Hot of the press from the RMC site "Ian Welch has kindly given us the Copse Lake to use, for the event, as far as we know there are only 8 swims on there, so if you fancy a weekend fishing for bream, this is the one for you." If anyone wants to fish this lake, when you apply, just write the lake name on the application form. Chris

  24. Just to let you know that we now have 60 people signed up, and still have 9 weeks to go. Ideally we want around the 100 mark to give us a chance of raising the money we need to break the £50,000 barrier. Please spread the message around to anyone you know who might be interested in the event, but may not have access to the web. Thanks Chris
