  1. i think personally that niel at kingennie should decide what sort of lake he is after. does he want match anglers on the bank who for the right water will happily pay a £5 ticket for every match but only if they are faced with propper stocking levels ie 60-70lb per peg with the majority of fish being 2-4lb with the occasional lunker.or is he after the specimen angler camped out for days three rods cast at all angles accross the pond therefore limiting the numbers on the bank or does he want the young kids with no supervision or tuition littering his banks and causing mayhem the latter of the 3 can be cured by using the anglers from opiton 1 and therefore even more people on the bank. when the dragons approached me this year looking for dates to fish we agreed on fishing kincaple, the tay, magiscroft even clatto but kingennie was a sticking piuont as i am faced with anglers refusing to fish the place till its sorted. if kingennine was the right water we woulod use it regulary as this year we are forming an east of scotland league to run alongside the RAF SCAL, an interservice league and our own club matches of which we have 24 planned for this season and not forgetting the ones against the dragons. giving all this kingennie would stand to make from this possibly 20 matches of 12 anglers times thier day tickets and the possibility of bait suply not accounting that theese anglers like to practice so the returns are surely to good to be missed. where as 5 speci anglers commanding the whole pond sort of kills trade dont you think. if he is intent on the speci anglers why not have a match lake with islands and a shelf full of carp and tench etc and a seperate busser boy lake who like to go fishing for sleep and fryups. this last statement is a personal opinion and not ment to cause offence.
  2. i agree jim i have had some scucess out of the big pool but i normally only fished it in matches against the angus dragons i think half the problem they had was the pegging of the water they allways pegged the north east corner and wondered why in the summer they failed to catch when if they had pegged the 2 bays they should of had more return.
  3. chester i think your heading in to a new topic if you'd like to start it on. WATERCRAFT LEARN THE BASICS.... i agree that alot of young anglers are brought up on comercials and are rarely on a natural water where your sense of watercraft and angling ability along with a confidence in your methods are paramount.i find alot of anglers are unwilling to take advice but then blame the water or thier equipment when they fail to catch.
  4. cheers for that newt we are curently trying to source some lime stone or chalk the only problem we have is we are not allowed to add it to the feeder stream as it is in agricultural land and the farmer is against us adding stone to it incase we flood his field. all this info is building a good picture as to why the returns have been sparce for the number of fish that are present. does any one have any idea if we can just add chalk or lime directly to the water and if so how. your thoughts on this would be helpfull.
  5. jim i hope he has taken some of the advice he has recieved from ronnie mccleod and george glen i heard that the pool he has moved them to is smaller but still just a bowl with no features. if you would like to rejoin kincaple that wont be a problem the club is up on its feet and looking for new or old blood.i'll email you through the week and we can tee up a date to go to kingennie.
  6. Jim sadly all the big roach have since departed the kincaple pond its now rare to take a 1lb roach. funny enough so did the carp (under misterious circumstances) but thats another story. if you would like to come fish the pond again just drop me an email and you will be more than welcome.
  7. hey chester, sounds like our lakes are in the same state our feeder is from a field drain and the water is only coloured when it rains heavy and causes the feeder stream to become a fountain. we also struggled for a few years with numbers of anglers so we droped our season price to £15 and then went out activly seeking them. the other drastic thing we did was to employ a feeding program through out the year and once a month fed pellet and maggot in small amounts just to keep the fish on the hunt for our unnatural food. when our pond turns gin clear i like to rake the swim i have chosen before i start to tackle up and then i like to fish a cloudy groundbait mixed with liquidised corn and milk powder for that special longerlasting suspension to give the fish the confidence.
  8. Many thanks bruno ill be in touch soon with some questions.
  9. cheers chester, some of the fish have been in there for 2 seasons but just refuse to get caught. its probbably just another part of fishing in scotland. it would still be interesting to hear what bruno would have to say on this matter.
  10. david a few of us fished the harbour last year and to say sport was slow is an understatement. we also got confused as to why a free strech of water means you have to go to the town hall and obtain a ticket. i would now rather drive further up to stanley and catch some quality grayling.
  11. Hi all long time no see, i have just been checking the Ph level of the lake i help run and found it to be 6.2 therefore slightly acid. it is a mixed water and i am wondering if this Ph level is ok for carp, tench, chub and lots of silver. If the level is to acid how would i adjust it to a satisfactory one. The reason i checked it was that someone mentioned that this is possibly the reason that last year that very few carp where caught despite 350 2-4" being added.
  12. i'm looking for anyone who has been over to ireland recently and fished on the bann to pass on upto date info as i will be heading over that way on holiday on saturday. i normally fish Portglenone and Antrim including Lough Beg.any info would be great cheers lads.
  13. i personally would like to put barbel in the pond but a few of our members believe that they are only to be found in rivers which is funny as there aint that many ie none round these parts. i have caught barbel in comercial pools in england and they account for themselves realy well as you would expect. after yesterday we have a new species in the water is called a kyle. he managed to fallin during the match but some how i can't imagine him breading with any other species.
  14. Pike are not even in the question. the big perch take care of the population together with the eels that clean up the dead. but good thought . cheers.
  15. As a small club committe member we often ask which species we can restock our pond with. We have Bream, Roach, Rudd, Tench, Carp, Chub Hybrids and Gudeon the membership then asked for Ide and oh my god what a bargan. We bought 1000 2-4" Ide i think they where 7p each and i one season they have now outgrown our average Roach each one weighing 5-6 oz.Thats not a bad return for 7 months. We have also had to rename them due to one of thier oddities when you place one in your hand to unhook they curl up just like those pieces of red paper you used to get in christmas crackrs. to that end we now call them, "CURLY WURLIES". Has anyone else out there had simular experiences or does anyone know of somemore top bargan buys?
  16. i take it you mean kingennie. the place is not that hot as you know i fish it with cat food and pellet in the two shallow bays. get the wind in your face and fish 4 to 5 meters out its only a few feet deep but the lack of a shelf is the main problem, "if there are no features make one out of your bait" ie just keep cupping it in every other put in and when the small carp turn up they will stay for ages.you should also try using liquidised corn to mix your ground bait for the suspension left behind when your ground bait breaks up but try and mix it on the dry side. not as was done last year where i saw people using what i can only call dough.
  17. hi all, after a long absence i find myself drawn back to anglersnet. it's still a top site i see. does anyone know where i can order bulk bait from (i.e. maggot, pellet, worms etc) as the supplies up in scotland are unreliable and often poor quality. any help on this would be a real help to me. many thanks.
  18. Can any one tell me if the strange markings on two of the bream i have just caught are spawning marks or a problem. the bream in question where both about 4-5lb and had nomerous tubicles on thier heads which is normal for this time of year but there was also a marking which can only be described as simular to a bad rash almost ulcered from half way down the body toward the tail on both flanks. many of our other bream have spawning tubicles but not this unsightly marking. any help would be appreciated.
  19. come on guys show your support i bet if this water was on your doorstep you'd be crying out for help and support of fellow anglers. once the goverment get their way once the will be trying to repeat the process for many more waters. please even if its just one or two words lets get behind SAUL and give his cause a boost.
  20. hey its been good for me. many thanks to all behind the scenes at anglersnet. heres to the next five.
  21. Saul i hope you dont mind but i would like to judge what suport you will get from fellow anglers. Guys and Gals if you would show your support for our fellow poster SAUL and his fight to save the carp of Duddingston Loch in Edinburgh please leave a few words below. the original thread was http://anglersnet.co.uk/ubb/ultimatebb.php...ic;f=1;t=010271 give it a read and dont hessitate to help or offer suport. Many thanks in anticipation of your over whelming response. We all like tight lines so lets help keep them tight.
  22. hi guys, not been on for a while and i saw this thread and my blood boiled. i am the secretary for a coarse club in fife and know of duddingston, but i also know of atleast two other lochs near by which are subject to ssi's. ironically one of theese lochs "Morton" was stocked in 1906 and used by local Lairds for "CARP" fishing and to this date there are wildies crashing arroud in the shallows on a sumers evening. unfortunatley when i tried to get permission to fish for the fish i was told in no uncertain terms to bugger off as it was a SSi and a bird watchers water.so if there is anything i can do to help just drop me a line and im sure the rest of my club members would be on our side. 23. Hi guys i was wondering if you can give me any advice. i have a club match booked on a fishery that only opens a week before. it has been stocked with silver and pastie carp but they have never seen anglers on the bank. the owner has been feeding them on malted oats from a near by brewry. so my dilema is what should i use as bait and how do i tackle a water that is brand new. please help. tight lines. Dibbly88.
  24. hi guys, im currently away from fishing at the moment due to being back in the gulf but i recieved an e-mail from a mate that made me chuckle and wondered if you had any other funny fishing stories that might help keep me amused while in the desert. the e-mail in question was about a match i had recently attended in south whales. one angler on a knock up team was overheard in the bar after the match being asked how he had done. "Two ounces but it was mainly bits!!" so if you have any more one liners i'd be glad of the read. Tigh lines, Dibbly88
  25. hi all sorry it has been a while but i have been busy fishing. what i need is some info on the willow lakes at llanelli (i think that is how it is spelt no offence to the welsh) i am going down to fish there in september and all info would be good ie baits, methods and match taticts anything please? i know the home int. has been held there but nothing else. thanks again in anticipation of your replys. Tight lines, Dibbly88
