  1. Steves really the man for this one but I would have thought that worm fished over chopped worm and maggot would suffice.
  2. Thats what I had allways assumed (along with ease of acsess) was the reason as well?
  3. The hardest thing for our guests must surely be deciding what to fish for! I can fish the place anytime I want and for as long as I want and still find this a nightmare! I wish I was 30 again! Just so much to do and I know I wont even scratch the surface.
  4. Or should that read what they tell you you need?
  5. Very good stuff mate! bit dissapointed though that a man of your training and education has started to drop his "H's" though...................
  6. Any fool can catch nothing but hypothermia Dave but the real men... well we were safely tucked up at home refining our needle point and crochet skills whilst catching up on Home and Away and Sex in the City............................
  7. Go carefull Dales there monitoring software will soon be picking up this thread and unless you start getting your "terminology" right you wont have a chance either! Breamz and Chubz for Christ sake man!
  8. Not to mention all the new product development he did last year with the "Twigz"
  9. Good man Milk Monitor! Myself and Andrew took over your role on the recent eel fish in Andrew brought a ton of sausages and bacon and I cooked it...............but them eel boys ain't got the appetite AN'ers have! Couldnt force the bacon butties down them we (members and us who were fishing that weekend) were eating them for days! No fear Steve me and bruv wont leave you facing the same predicament. We will be on hand to help untill i have to start ferrying people about.
  10. Maybe a bit radical but may I sugest you simply ask Stu/listen to what him or any of his guides sugest when you get there..........
  11. For the life of me mate I just cant understand why Pallatrax hasnt signed you up and given you one of their smart outfits to wear..................
  12. Ah youve just realised that Anderoo is a closet carper Dave! Underneath that shabby old Barbour jacket and floppy hat lurks a Realtree Onesie!
  13. I just hope Peggy removes the owners wife from the back of the horse before chucking it on the BBQ mate................
  14. Simply keep the line off the water surface Chris! Reletively easily done on most cannals with them not being wide.Lots of variations on the "Beachcaster Rig".
  15. Oh "Carp BURGER"! Sorry Dave I thought Steve said carp Buggerer when he was referring to your antics the other week!
  16. Bruv Im getting pretty fed up of everyone insinuating that Im a greedy sod! It simply isnt true! The truth of the whole matter is as I have such impecable manners I feel that after all the effort Peggy has put in cooking its only good manners to be the first in the que and to eat as much as possible.............
  17. Bloomin heck boss I thought you said NOT to mention the carp! Do you reckon they are going to be ready for the Fish In...........................or are we just going to have to stick to the traditional burgers and sausages?
  18. Thats a shame Si.I very much look at the Fish In as a social/catching up event rather than a fishing session. Maybe next year.
  19. Oh for all those to young to remember the batting gloves I refer to-
  20. Bowlesy was completely off his trolley Dales but the amount of work he and the early eel specialists put in to help raise the eels profile in the angling world was amazing. He was totally passionate about eels and eel fishing. He more or less ran the BEAC and produced its magazine (a simple affair on plain paper ran off on an old ink duplicator but great content) single handedly. Often he was the only contributor (and had various "nome de plumes") BUT even if you wasn't an eel angler it was a "must read"! simply because of the humour! The fish ins were the same. In fact it was the mag and subsequent fish ins (along with my old mate Robs love of them) that started me looking at them as more than just a nuisance or at best bait! IMHO a far better way of winning anglers over and in turn helping the eel than many recent campaigns which have sadly alienated many. That said most of the NAC guys I know/have met are good lads and Im sure things will come good as its certainly an unsure future for the eel and to an extent those that fish for it in whatever way.
  21. Sadly a lot of NAC members just lack the sense of humour the old BEAC had. When Mick Bowles printed my spoof advert for "Eel handling gloves" (accompanied by a picture of me wearing (wrong way around) a pair of old fashion cricket "batting" gloves (that had green plastic spikes on rather than the modern padded type) in the mag he had only two complaints! I dread to think how it would go down these days!
  22. Still got my original black one some where! ...........sadly though even if I could find it there would be very little chance I could still squeeze into it!
  23. Ah now is all clear! thats the "swinger" Steve was on about! Now I understand the fishnets!
  24. ATS I will spill the beans as its you! For several decades the Burkester and my self have been growing two big pike on in an underground holding pen situated under the tractor shed. We have been feeding them on an exclusive diet of ASDA Value Seafood sticks! they are now both just over 45lb.Once they have reached 50 (hopefully by the start of Winter 2016) we will be releasing one of them into the Coarse lake and the other into the Carp Lake. At this point we will toss a coin to see who fishes which lake and armed with suitable tackle and a bag of ASDA's finest the battle to become the British Record holder will comence! The problem is that due to their exclusive diet and the artificial colourings it contains our home grown "Records" are a rather unusual colour......PINK! As such we dont want anyone catching any of Winghams native pike and be able to compare with our front page photos in the AT and AM else the game will be up! (we are going to each submit a pic to one of these to be able to pull the exclusivity bit and get as many freebies as possible) I hope you understand and along with all our other Anglers Net buddies keep our secret as after all its the only way these days that a couple of old has beens such as ourselves can regain our former status in the angling world.... To show our appreciation for your silence the Burkester and I have agreed to tell you about the record tench we have just stocked after being grown on to 16lb in the spare underground pen (the one under the club house shower) No special food was used to grow this specimen (mainly left overs from Previous BBQ's) BUT every time we fed it we made sure we was wearing one of my Fishouflage T Shirts and a pair of Peggy's old fish net stockings (not quite sure why the stockings but the Burkester insisted that it was important) It has subsequently grown to associate these with food and as I sit at my keyboard it is now cruising around the lake on the hunt for someone dressed accordingly in the hope of a feed. Oh incidentally just by chance I will have some shirts for sale at the Fish In at a hugely inflated price............................. However for the stockings you will have to contact Peggy.
