  1. The Map TKS 20 is a fantastic pole! At 14.5 m stiff light and generally a very nice pole! Its roughly £400 including 3 power kits and a cupping kit! When you add the cost of elastics that'll take it to roughly £420 unless you want hydro elastics! That means you'd have money left for maybe another top kit or a pole roller! etc!
  2. Erm i use either Kamasan Animal or B911! Both a wide gape hook and strong!
  3. Just wondering whether anyone else was going to watch! At the moment im goin on my own which sounds fun haha! I have no friends who like fishing though
  4. Yeah its best to talk to them about the lakes that are fishing well, best baits at the time etc! You'll get good sport all day on maggots/casters on the whips though! You should easily beat your best carp though
  5. Firstly have a look at this http://www.news-reel.com/html/ourparks/our..._lakesguide.htm Secondly what kind of fishing are you looking to do? pole/feeder/waggler? There are loads of decent carp in most of the pools there except the odd one aimed more at the match angler! Based on what you've said i'd suggest jennys pool is worth a visit one day! Your son will catch all day on the pole out in front, while you could fish a feeder out to the island in search of the carp which grow big as you'll see from the link! Just out of curiosity when are you going? I'm making a trip down starting 8th september
  6. Ah right ok thanks! Marl pool and walnut tree both similar fishing?
  7. Ah ok then! I'll give those a try! Where exactly are the walnut tree pools? i no they are near to the oakhanger pools but have never seen them! And also what is home farm like?
  8. Ahh ok, i fished the smaller pool at oakhanger on tuesday, had plenty of roach and 5 chub but had no sign of any carp! Which pools from the list you mentioned do you recommend?
  9. Have you ever fished any of these yourself just out of interest?
  10. Good question i have no idea, never really thought about it before! I hope someone doesnt have to tie them all by hand though xD
  11. Chin up mate! just concentrate on your next session forget those gone and start thinking of how your going to catch next time!
  12. Any advice on some good clubs in stoke? i live in kidsgrove! Thanks

i tried about 5 different approaches! feeding little and often, feeding large amounts every so often, fishing shallow, the margins and couldnt get them to feed at all! im wondering whether its the constantly changing conditions!

Hey the fishing went alright! could have gone better! i had 37 roach and 5 chub to 2 lb but just couldnt seem to get the carp to feed no matter what i tried!
  15. Also i landed a 19.5 lb carp on a 12's elastic it all depends on whether snags are around, how well you play the fish and also a bit of luck!
  16. Yeah you will still get some fight out of a 1lbish fish. Obviously not as much! it all depends on how tight you set the elastic! but as suggested above if your pole comes with more than one top kit have different sized elastics fitted. For example i have 2 top kits with 14, 1 with 12 and one with 10!

I'm taking a trip to white acres in september which im looking forward to other than that im just trying to fit in a couple of hours whenever im not working! Like tomorrow
  18. Maybe try potting in a cup full of chopped worm and casters, and then feed casters little and often over the top. I'd do it using a small toss pot and occasionaly you can add some more chopped worms to the swim. But i find when i use a toss pot the little and often feeding stops because you sit waiting for a bite, so i limit myself to around 2 mins, if i havent had a bite i will refill the toss pot, so to keep the feed going in!

  22. Firstly! Hi all as this is my first post! I have been fishing since i was around 10 and am now 18. But i am looking for some new places to fish. I currently fish at cudmore but i am finding expensive especially on my student budget! I fished Oakhanger when i was younger but have not for quite a few years! Does anyone know whether this fishery is still day ticket? and if so what the fishing is like there! I am also open to any other places suggested! I mainly use the pole and enjoy fishing for small F1 carp etc etc. Thanks
