  1. Gawd Blimey Newt, trust you to go one better than me. Cheers Bill
  2. Why do these pike men make it look such HARD WORK Cheers, Bill
  3. Great news Chevin. We have 10 grand children and I can't really express the great pleasure they have given us. You can spoil them something rotten and then, as Budgie points out, you can give them back. Gets expensive at birthdays and Xmas time but more than worth every penny. Good luck, Bill
  4. Bejaysus, is there more than one??? Cheers Bill
  5. Rudd, when they catch up with you, ask for all those numerous offences to be taken into consideration. You may be out for the 2008/9 season. Cheers Bill
  6. What about camo carp. I've never seen one so does that prove the camo works???
  7. Hi Steve and welcome. First of all I don't expect you will have to wait anywhere near as long as I did for your first 30. They are becoming more and more common (and mirror), sorry. When I was your age Steve a 10lb carp received as much publicity as a 30 does now and I suppose in a few more years even a 50 will not be all that rare. The thing is, just keep at it. You have taken up a hobby that really can last you a life-time and I wish you good luck with it. Cheers, Bill. P.S. Don't worry about being a chatter box, I have been married to one for 48 years...
  8. I agree 100% with Elton. (Creep). Bill
  9. Newt, I suppose it could have been stair rods. Bill
  10. Thanks Steve and welcome to the best fishing net in the UK. I hope you will always get as much help and fun from it as I have. Cheers, Bill
  11. NEWT, many thanks for your help and patience. Both pictures now on the thread.Anglo/American relations triumphant once again. Age-wise Newt I am a little ahead of you (70 in June). I agree things can still be learned, its just that it takes a little longer to sink in. ELTON, my apologies for giving you work for nothing but before you could help me, Newt came up with the goods. I am grateful to you anyway. Bless you both. Bill
  12. Picture 1 shows carp at 31lb 10oz Picture 2 shows carp at 32lb sorry it took so long
  13. Quick follow up Newt. Have just read your very amusing stories about signs. I guess you had better send me one reading "THICK" by return of post. Cheers Bill
  14. Thanks Newt and a Happy New Year. Well I have managed to send the pictures via email but still cannot find how to send them to the forum. I am getting no joy from the link you suggested. I have emailed the photos to Elton in the hope that he can get them to where they should be. I am afraid that computers came a bit late in life for this old man. Technology becomes more technical by the day and my poor old brain moves at about the same rate in the opposite dirction. Thanks Newt and keep well. Bill
  15. Hi Brad, Can't add much to what has been said but have always found the fish feeding for a brief period during the day. Depends not just on the temperature but also on barometric pressure. It's also worth trying a zig rig to search out the comfort zone where most fish will be found. Very good luck to you. Bill
  16. Thank you Sven, and the same to you. Cheers mate. Bill
  17. Still haven't forgotten the promised photos. Santa Claus brought me a new printer/scanner for Xmas and I am doing my best to tame the damn thing. I have managed to save the photos into the computer but am having trouble transferring them into an email. I am not out fishing again until February so between then and now I will get some WD40 into the rusting brain box and try to work it out. In the meantime, if some kind person could explain how it is done in VERY SIMPLE terms I would be grateful. A Very Happy New Year to you all. Bill
  18. Good story and a GREAT punchline Colin. Cheers, Bill
  19. Thanks all. I hope to send a photo shortly. Cheers, Bill
  20. Many thanks for the kind words. The mention of a brace may be more appropriate than intended. In the report of the captures on the linear fisheries website it actually states, "Bill refused to smile for the photo because he didn't have his teeth in". I must admit that I did keep the smile a little tight lipped for that very reason. Ah well, now for the forty. Cheers all, Bill
  21. I have waited a very long time for my first thirty (over 50 years) and lo and behold, two in a week. First one came at 1030pm and weighed in at exactly 32lb. One week later, still on the same session I was lucky enough to get another. This one came out at 1pm and weighed 31lb 10ozs. Why am I telling you this? Cos I just have to tell somebody. Cheers all, Bill
  22. Try Pendle View Fishery on the A59 at Clitheroe. Contains a few 30lb carp and quite a good stock of smaller ones. Gates are locked at night and it is a safe venue. Cheers and good luck. Bill
  23. No I don't Ant. Most of my fishing is done down in Oxfordshire and nearer to home in Lancashire. I'm off to France for a fortnight in three weeks time and I am getting quite excited about that. I'm going to a place called Castaway Lake that was pointed out by Elton on this net. Hopefgully I will have good things to report when I come back. Cheers M8. Bill
