  1. Hi Just wondering has anyone fished on Derwent Water in the Lake District? I am on holiday there soon and wondering what gear to pack. I know there are Pike & Perch to fish for with lure gear etc but is there any coarse fish that can be targeted? Looking on the web it's no t too clear what is up there. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks Nathan
  2. Hi Fella's Talking about the river management does anyone know if that is what they are doing along the Lambourn between the bridge at Shaw/Turnpike and the Swan pub. They have been working along that stretch now for a few weeks cutting nearly all the trees along the south bank with some rather alarmingly large machinery!!!!
  3. Hi Elton This isn't actually the same PC but we work at the same company but in different departments. You can check the Angling times next week or go on to davistackle's web for the story see link http://www.davistackle.co.uk/fisherynews/r...tober-2009.html Regards Nathan
  4. Did I hear that there is an article to be found in Angling Times next week?
  5. An excellent specimen. That's the sort of fish dreams are made of. Give my congratulations to your colleague Brian Nathan
  6. Hi Everyone I am of on holiday with the family on Saturday to Perranporth on the North Cornwall coast for a week. Does anyone know if it fishes well and if so are there any preferential baits tactics that can be used. Any info or help would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks Nathan
  7. Could anyone help a sea fishing novice. I will be on holiday for a week at the end of May near Rye (staying at Winchelsea beach) and am in need of some advice. Are there any good spots to fish from the beach around that area and when is the best time to fish i.e high tide/low tide etc? Also can you lure fish this area as well or is it best just to fish say a standard 2 hook rig? I would appreciate any help greatly as I have a very limited knowledge of sea fishing. Thanks Nathan
  8. Hi. I am on holiday in Winchelsea Beach the last week in May and was wondering does anyone have any tips/info on the fishing around there? Have to admit I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to sea fishing and have only ever fished a 2 hook flapper rig with lug and rag so any info on baits/rigs/spots to fish would be welcome. Thanks in advance Nathan
  9. Thank you Chris. I will continue to roam around and hunt for the elusive fish. Either way I am loving traveling along the glorious river even though it has been a bit nippy! Maybe see you around Thanks Nathan
  10. Thank you for the warm welcome to AN. I agree that this isn't the greatest time to be fishing as the going is hard but I am still thoroughly enjoying trying to catch. Cheers for the info and maybe see you on the bank. Nathan
  11. Found myself with a spare afternoon Saturday so picked up my mate Sparky and off too Speen Moors we went. Not exactly the best afternoon's fishing. After trotting maggot's for the best part of 2 hours at the bridge by the car park and along the river parallel with the field we had managed just 1 dace ( and no I didn't catch it!). Then we wandered around with our spinning gear along the river to near Northcroft and back but still no luck. The river was up with the heavy rain we had If anyone can point us in the right direction for some decent swims/sections of river to fish for chub we would be most grateful as we are having no luck at the minute. Then I managed to sneak in an hour or so on the river Lambourn by Shaw church Sunday afternoon. At last I managed to catch a fish again getting a nice Grayling of about half a pound and then a poundish Rainbow. What a relief I can still catch fish. Until next time..
  12. Yeah it's nice to see people willing to offer help and advice in a age where so many don't look out for eachother anymore. Must be all the water and fresh air giving us anglers a sense of decency!
  13. Hi Mark Yes I will look out for you. I am getting there about 8 ish. If you could give me some advice I would be most gratefull. Have you fished there recently. How did you get on? Thanks Nathan
  14. Hi Newt Thanks for the welcome. I will see if anyone hopefully gives advice. Nathan

    Hello

Just thought I would say Hi. Have just joined Newbury AA for the new year so I can get back into fishing while the weather is good!!!! Had a trip to speen moors on saturday afternoon and managed to catch my first ever chub of about 1 1/2 lb which I was well chuffed with. Struggled for bites other than that though and my mate had no luck either. We tried lure fishing for an hour as well but to no avail. Temp was very low though and the line iced up in the rod constantly but still a very enjoyable afternoon. Hopefully going back tomorrow (wednesday) for another session as it looks like it is staying a bit milder. If anyone out there has any tips or could suggest swims etc I would be very gratefull of any help. Thanks and tight lines Nathan
