  1. http://www.gofishing.co.uk/Angling-Times/S...s-Avon-stretch/ Hope this helps
  2. Hi there Viney I joined NAA last year and they also do a half years permit i think you have submit your application and ask for it to start on January 01st and it is only 25 quid not bad considering you can easily pay up to 6 quid for a day ticket water, this will give you then access to some really good waters especially in the winter (speen moors can be particulalrly good in the winter) Hope this helps sparky
  3. I am a big fan of macaroni cheese and have caught fish all year round with it, although fish can be wary of it and it has not been used before on the water. It is difficult to hook on and good plan is to refigerate it the night before to harden it up, an alternative is to buy like a pasta salad from tesco (tuna and sweetcorn flavour seems to work well) it is much firmer to hook on, as for hook size i tend to use a size 10 hook. Hope this helps Sparky
  4. I can assure you that this fish is real as is the photo Elton We are not posting from the same pc but we do work at the same company but in different departments and think that is what is confusing you. Check the Angling times next week and in the meantime you can see the fish here http://www.davistackle.co.uk/fisherynews/r...tober-2009.html Mark
  5. Amendment to post The weight of 16lbs 6ozs was later confirmed at 16lbs 7ozs as the scales were 1 ounce light
  6. Just thought i would post this if anyone is interested My work colleague Brian has just returned from a two day stint on the Royalty in the search for a Barbel of any description as he had never caught one. Brian and two freinds were biteless on the first day and things were not looking great , however on day two Brian decided that if the barbel were not going to show he would try for a nice Chub and tried a bread as a hookbait, and no more than 5 minutes later he hooked into what he first thought was a nice chub, however it turned out that this was no chub and was actually a very nice Barbel weighing in at 16lbs and 6 ozs This caused mayhem on the bankside with other anglers flocking around to see the fish and ask questions about how it had been caught and on what bait. And as you can imagine when he said that he had never even caught a Barbel before and that it had been caught on bread they were all gobsmacked and might i add a little bit envious. Anyway i have attached a picture for all to see. Enjoy Mark
  7. Hi Chris I notice you fish alot around the Newbury Thatcham area and just wondered if you could point me in the right direction as to where you catch your Barbel from i dont want to know the exact peg but i dont really know where to start. I know that brimpton used to be quite good but not sure any more. Any help would be appreciated
  8. Can anyone recommend a decent Feeder/Barbel rod for a decent price Any help appreciated Sparky
  9. Depending on dates both myself and a freind would be interested in this day. I will check back for updates on when this might happen
  10. I am trying to get hold of a new set of end quiver tips for my Maver 12ft retribution feeder rod, now i know the rod is probably 5 years old now but it seems a shame to ditch a whole rod for the sake of some new quivers, i have contacted Maver UK and they tell they no longer stock the end quivers, but did say there is a strong chance of a retailer having some in stock, so does anyone have any ideas of where to start searching, any help would be appreciated. Thanks Sparky75
  11. I have quite often caught on pasta spirals that was meant to be for my lunch but have ended up trying them on the hook and caught Carp, Tench and even roach. As someone has already said macaroni cheese would be as good
  12. Would love to be shown proper handling techniques for pike and maybe a few pointers on the art of lure fishing as i have started to do more of this recently. Is there any more news on dates or venues for the future Thanks Sparky
