  1. Andy, You'll have to think about transferring those to DVD. New VHS recorder/players are getting scarce and second-hand usually need repairs. I had two sets of these videos, when a friend left me his copies. So of course I got rid of one set! Trouble was, I think I disposed of the 'signed' copies by mistake! I had the accompanying books, so one of those must've gone too, as I can't find the second one! Oh well, One's enough I've been watching them all week, when the Missus goes out shopping.. Trouble is, I have to stop them and go pick her up from Asda all every other afternoon!
  2. I'm disgusted at that news, but there you go... In the old days Game fishing was the 'sport'; coarse fishing was regarded as just a 'pastime' ... So much for the 'sporting' game-fisher-folk. I'd rather eat beef any day!
  3. Thanks for the welcome, Newt and Worms. I'm obliged for the updates, esp. on keep-nets. Either way, I have to get a new one! My lovely old 12 footer, kept in the shed, (Wife's rule of course) !) has been used by mice as a nest, and a twenty pound carp could probably get through the holes! Relieved I can go with the glass-fibre without being the subject of nudges and winks! Thanks again fellas. And Tight Lines to you too. T
  4. Strange coincidence! I just watched a couple of the programmes from my copies of the videos. Happy days those were. Made in 1993, it evokes memories of the 1950's for me every time I watch it. Good Stuff.
  5. I don't know about the 'true-spirit' of angling so much. I do remember once talking part in a 'match' on the Severn at Ombersley. I wasn't (and still am not) a 'Match-man', so I had some strange notion that eels didn't count. (Honest!) With the result I threw back six or seven fairly big eels. I know...Duhhh! Only one other person caught anything that day and the match was won by his 8oz perch! One of my team mates was so disgusted with the blank day he chucked his gear in the river! (He said it had nothing to do with me throwing back the eels!) He never fished again to my knowledge. Tenchie!
  6. Hi Folks, A mate has revived my interest in fishing. He told me there's a good pool I thought was private, within five minutes of my home! I have to get my knees replaced first mind, but I'm looking forward to getting one of these new-fangled plastic licences! I don't think I'll be getting any new rods though. I made a split cane rod for myself thirty years ago and my others are all fibre-glass, made for me some thirty years ago, and they are good as new. I suppose they will still catch fish! I will have to check what I can and can't do though, so much has changed. (I am told we can't use keep-nets any more. True or false? I saw some guy obviously going fishing the other day too. Is there no close-season now? ) Nice to be here and looking forward to making new friends and getting the mick taken out of me! Tenchie (Brum)
