    Newbie SeaFisher

Well I left before I had a chance to read any replies appears I didn't miss much though. I would have thought you would have been trying to encourage a new person into the sport... Anyway I caught 2 seabass, I put one back but the others lunch today - they weren't huge, the larger one (which I kept) was 17" long. I caught them on lugworm - tried sandeel but no success at all.. 2. Need a reply ASAP as I'm heading down to cornwall for holiday and have decided to try some fishing (only trouble is I'm leaving later on tonight ) Anyway what fish can I expect to catch from the beach - will be buying all the gear from a shop down there which I recceed out last time, he reckoned the beach (south coast england) was pretty good. Any tips and advice ? No doubt I'll scan him for knowledge but any general heads up much appreciated!! Cheers TeAl
  3. For those interested? The Coast to Coast by darryl was played on BBC2 in Northern Ireland on Thursday at 8:00 . Not quite peak time but pretty good, its a brilliant program especially if you've been to some of the places. Darryl's a good guy and I would recommend him for any program because he focuses not on just catching the fish but background history and techniques explaining how to rig up your baits etc... also he covered all types not just course but fly and even sea fishing. After the program I mailed BBC NI to commend them on it but I did not get a reply, hopefully my comments were noted.
  4. Haha I think the foxes are pretty crafty Besides the fit foxes escape from the hounds, only the old and the weak get caught exactly the ones which kill the livestock.
  5. Just found this: http://www.countryside-alliance.org/news/0...2/020912ang.htm The threat is real to angling, if/when hunting and then shooting are banned angling is next and they are preparing for the onslaught now. We should prepare also.
  6. Just to clarify, Vinnie Jones doesn't hunt, but he does fish and he went there to defend that. I think its very impressive and good of him to make a stand unlike a lot of the 'fishermen' here
  7. As Liam says, we were their for the right to choose for saving liberty and livelihoods, that was the statement all along. I don't hunt but I'll defend the right for others to do it.
  8. Well you guys are all complaining about it but how many of you were actually there?? I was there and was counted along with 400,000+ others. I don't hunt but I do shoot woodpigeons. Woodpigeons are a pest to farmers as are foxes. Hunting is the thin end of the wedge, once thats gone they'll start attacking me. http://www.pigeonwatch.co.uk - for more info on woodpigeon shooting.

    hunting

Oh oh Mally. You did not read my post very carefully did you. I was refering to groups of antis harrasing SOLITARY anglers and children. William
  16. Thanks a lot. I did not know this was illegal, while i very much doubt i would get arrested or anything I think that it is not worth the risk. Thanks william

    hunting

I think that shooting will be banned in the future, i think it is next. I have never foxhunted but I shoot and fish. Ok as one guy said a while back, once fox hunting goes, what will the antis target? They will target, SOLITARY anglers on the riverbank or by a lake they will not target groups of people out shooting. Who knows in todays world they could just knife a person by the river. One incident occurs and bam no kids allowed to go fishing because of dangers. No kids fishing = no future for fishing. I think shooting will be next on the governments and antis list but I think that Angling will be targetted by the people on the ground. They could just chuck your equipment in the water, what can u do, they outnumber you call the police? By the time they come there is no reason for the antis to hang around. I think foxhunting for one thing keeps the antis off our backs. William
  18. it would be a uk net, and the fish would be caught once if i am lucky I reckon in the shoal around the island there are about 10-20 BIG carp and the lake is a lot bigger so there are probably even more somewhere William
  19. I didn't intend to keep it in a net as in a keep net. I was just wondering would I be able to net it with a normal landing net if I catch one. William
  20. Steve thanks for your help I will get back to you on my success or not These fish are monsters will 20lb line be enough? I don't know how long a carp lives or how big it could grow naturally in a natural pond but this lake has been untouched for hundreds of years so presumably some there will be as big as they get!! I will take lots of photos also and put them up here I heard that if you put a thumb in the carps mouth while u hold it pacifys it when you take a picture Any truth Thanks William
  21. quote: Nohelp here I am afraid, I want no part of helping somebody to a catch a carp only to knock it on the head. Thats all, bye............[/QB] Obviously you did not understand my 2nd post, after I remembered the humble camera and getting a model of it I was no longer interested in killing the fish. Sorry if it wasn't clear and after reading my first post I guess it might sound a bit gruesome . Sorry for upsetting you guys I agree that if you don't eat what you catch then it is pretty pointless but these guys wanted it stuffed so I will tell them to stuff that and get a wooden model instead . By the way a small pike stirfryed is delicious William
