Hi Steve, thanks for the info. Strangely enough I went and got some particles (french maize) and did exactly what you said don't do soaked them for 2days and then boiled for an hour or so......and your right to soft for the hair. So thought they would do for the freebies so went and bought some more soaked these over night and simmered for about 30 mins, these are crushable but hard enough to put a needle through and seem to go on the hair OK so I guess these will be alright for hook baits and bin once finished with. (feedback welcome) I will of course let you know how it goes.........but I know one thing for certain I had such a terrible time from when I restarted carping in August, on average 2 sessions or so per week about 8 hours sessions 21 fish up to 17lb. and 8 total blank sessions. So as I say I doubt I can do any worse But we will see Rob

When I look at a thread I see the first post but subsequent posts are shown as a list by date and user name. Is there any way I can just see all posts in a thread rather than having to click one by one from the list below? Thanks Rob

Hi Newt.......any chance of swaping the weather, location and weather for ours ?!! Really nice shot, just love the rolling mist, I could just imagin the excitment of having a rod out in those conditions. Don't forget to post a picci of you and yours having your Christmas Dinner in the sun lucky @*#+ .........................I can't wait to get over there, roll on MARCH. Regards Rob

Hi Wellyphant, thanks again for the reply and I will certainly remember your suggestions. The pegs I have chosen I think as you suggested are not the deepest section of the like, I suppose about 3 ft. The main reason though ithey are not the most comfortable peg on the lake as the bank has a bit of a slop, bivvying up id a little difficult .......so given these two facts I think the carpers stay off them also the club I am in have two waters in close proximity to each other and the other venue is deemed to be the easier more convenient water, however the one I am referring to because it doesn't get as crowed and because if you bank a fish they are in better condition I actually prefer. I suppose (and this might be total ingnorance and lack of experience on my part) the reason I am doing this on these pegs is to see can I educate what I know is a decent population of carp to visit more often.....a challange I suppose Rob

Hi Wellyphant and Stephen, Thanks a lot for the advice appreciated. Quick question if you don't I know Maize (and all other particles for that matter) need preparing but once soaked and boiled how well does it stay on the hair? Yes I realise the possibility of other anglers getting the benefit of my prebaiting but I suppose its the chance you take. To try my best to overcome this as I said in the original thread I have chosen pegs that are not the most popular and also if there are any anglers in seeing distance when I go to prebait I don't do any so I'm not advertising. Sounds really cruel this but when you have had a pretty poor season like I have had YOU'LL TRY ANYTHING Thanks again for coming back Guys, I consider myself a bit of a novice so any info that comes along I really appreciate. Regards Rob

Hi Rob, went and put a little more in today only baited one of the spots I had chosen as there was a guy on the other spot I have been prebaiting. Interestly I had a chat with the Guy and he had 3 bream and two carp one 5lb and the other 16lb. The strange thing is in the few years I have been a member of this club and fished this water I have never seen anybody bother with the pegs I chose to bait up!! I never mentioned to the Guy I had prebaited but given his result it has made me wonder. The location I am baiting is in the margins so getting the stuff in isn't a prob so I will the hemp and maggots a go. What I have used so far is a mixture of trout pellets, Halibut pellets crushed, a few crushed bollies and some groundbait. With this Guy getting the couple of carp it has given me a liittle confidence and will to visit the spots a couple of times per week ............................but we'll see if it was just concidence this chap fell on his fish and nothing to do with prebaiting when I get around to dropping a bait in myself, maybe this Guy is just a much superior angler than myself. Thanks Rob for the reply. Yes what my aim is to try and encourage fish into a specific area and hopefully hold them or at least visit there frequently. Rob, could you suggest what I could use to chuck in? I intend to feed the area's (I am targeting two area's to hopefully make sure at least one of the pegs will be available) twice a week. Couldn't really justify spending the loads of money that K's of bollies will cost. The main logic behind the desperate act is I have had such a pathetic last season Any help / suggestions will be gratefully received. Rob

I have one and no problems, I'd certainly be back to the shop quickly and don't let the duck out of it as worms said its not fit for its purpose. Rob

Need a bit of advice on the above please. I have chosen a couple of pegs that I intend to target on a local lake. I plan to bait up a couple of times a week from now, may fish it occasionally now but most hours on there will be next year. My questions, What would be a decent mix to put in, can't afford to chuck K's of bollies in? Also I am due to be out of the country March till May 2010 so obviously want be fishing it then am I wasting my effort doing the baiting up now? I have chosen not the hottest pegs on the lake as its likely when you go these pegs would be occupied, however the pegs I have chosen I have had a few decent fish out this summer so the theory is they are about. Thanks in advance for any advice people may give. Rob

Thanks a lot Newt for your reply..........was over last year for a similar period and went looking but as you say CARP didn't seem popular I couldn't help thinking on those warm barmey evenings you have over there how great it would of been to try and catch a few carp with floating biscuit or crust, still never mind I'm sure your answer (there are no carp) will make my wife a very happy person . Not sure if you are a snowbird but if you are have a great time down in Florida for the winter. Regards. Rob

Hi Newt, thanks a lot for the welcome. I see your location is florida. I am over in Florida staying within 40 mins of Tampa for 3 months March to May 2010 wondered if you could give any pointers where to start looking for places where I may do some carping but would need to hire the tackle of course. I realise its not that easy as a lot of people over there consider the Carp as a trash fish. Regards. Rob

Just saying hello. I enjoy going after for......... I just wished the carp knew that Trying very hard to learn as much as I can so will be scouring the forum looking for help to improve my techniques Regards Rob
