  1. Only once have I ever ventured into a water after lost tackle. I got a wavelock umbrella for christmas one year and a freak wind blew it into the river where it snagged up on a branch. I, with the help of my Brother, tied a life ring around me and swam out to retrieve it. I can assure you it was the almost the worst experience of my life, but I got my Brolly back. I was absolutely chilled to the bone but had remembered to take off my thermal jacket before going in. My Gran didn't half give me a lecture but it was worth it.
  2. Just wanted to show you guys my pond. It measures 15 feet x 12 feet and has a depth from 1.8 feet on the sills to 3.5 feet at its deepest point. It is here that I try new baits and see how attractive they are. I welcome any comments.
  3. Found the picture of my PB Barbel. Aint she a Beauty!!! All 14lb 2 ounces of her. Also an old one of my PB Chub. All 5lb 11 ounces. God I'm getting old... I have also added my Sons first ever Barbel @ 12lb 3 ounces...as you can see we are all a family of anglers.
  4. I guess I am going to struggle with an answer for bulk buying. This is one Reborn my wife completed and sold. You have to look twice to know they are not real babies and women love them.
  5. You think? Maybe my wife has painted a Bullseye on my back only visible to the fairer sex.....she never once complained about my advice or comments on her driving.
  6. As a driver I am always conscious of all motorbike users. However, I must say that many and I speak from experience view UK roads as a racetrack. When I see them ambling at speed up the middle to overtake I pull my vehicle to the left to give them space. This almost always produces a thumbs up or a wave, so at least I know they appreciate someone who KNOWS WHAT MIRRORS ARE FOR. My Insurer has today confirmed in writing their first offer of £1800.00 and surprise, surprise the Woman driver refuses to accept liability. It is now going to come down to the evidence of damage and the witness statement, which fortunately belongs to an off duty Policeman. I told my Insurer to come back to the table with a better offer. Today whilst driving my Wifes car a woman driver shunted me from the back...I must have a woman magnet somewhere in my body... Thankfully at the point of impact she was not driving at speed sufficient to cause damage. Her statement was, " I didn't realise you had stopped." to which I replied, " The red traffic lights were the giveaway." You could not write this. She then gave me one of those gormless stares usually associated with those of simple intellect. I stand by my original statement "WOMEN DRIVERS, PAH!!!!!!"

  8. However daft the rule or idiotic the so called idiots are enforcing them we have so far removed from our waters 7 anglers using pet shop stock fish as livebait. Don't know about you but I have seen some petshops that have very poor quality fish. One guy had a net with 15 small Carp in which he had purchased from a local petshop. 2 of those carp had early stage fin rot.
  9. Hang on, irrespective of whether we agree with them they have the fundamental right to free speech, no? Insofar as they are labelled extremist their protest was largely peaceful. They burned a flag. Are we not trying to co-exist in peace or is the whole idea of fighting extremism for peace a load of cock and bull or is it just on our terms? There are enough christian extremists out there too are there not.
  10. True enough...sorry... In honour of all killed by a War not of their making.
  11. You aint a Politician by any chance? Never met a Yank with such a sense of humour. Bet if you bottle it u'd make a mint.
  12. Fighting on UK soil. There was an alleged German incursion into the UK in 1940. It was beaten off but it will be years before the truth is reveled. The early mass bombing of civilians did not divert Hitler, because they were so ineffectual, in the first year of conflict. We had no heavier aircraft then the Wellington and Handly Page. 1943 saw the appearance of the Avro Lancaster. It was only when the Luftwaffe accidently bombed London in 1940 that Churchill ordered the famous Berlin raid. Hitler as usual became histerical, as his speech shows, losing all tactical reason. Had the Luftwaffe continued bombing the airfields, even with the radar chain, we had 2 weeks. Defeat would have been inevitable. It was not Hitlers first blunder. This and his failure to follow operation Dynamo at Dunkirk and attack the UK in force cost him the War. Britian has on its hand the blood of millions of subjugated people. The Empire motto was "Make the world England." America seems to be doing the same today in their so called "American dream." Oh and bet you didn't know that Churchill was a Director of Wimpy....big UK builders chain at the time of WW2. Wonder who got the rebuild contract post War? My Grandfather fought in the RAF as a gunner in a bomber. He was killed by SS firing squad in February 1945 just after Dresdon.
  13. I agree with freedom of speech but your history is muddled.....old man. 07-12-1941 Americans declare War on Japan but not Germany. It was Hitler who declared War on America and the USAAF did not arrived until early 1942. By this time the Battle of Britain had been won by September 1940 by the RAF. The RAF did consist of Czech, Polish and other European nationals. Very few Americans actually fought before 1942 on UK soil. Remember History: USA and BIN LADEN were best buddies. [fact] USA & UK sold arms to Iran to kill Iraqi soldiers when USA loved Saddam Hussein. [fact] USA and TALIBHAN were best buddies when USSR was in Afghanistan. [fact] CIA trained---Bin Laden and troops. CIA trained---Saddam Husseins troops. CIA trained and funded the Talibhan in their war against the USSR. The USSR who funnily enough did what we are doing today I wouldn't like to be a best buddy of the USA today...track record is poor.
  14. When the Luftwaffe were attacking the UK America was still neutral and France was defeated. Exactly which Allies were you referring? Read my post as it was meant and don't nit pick.
  15. This has to be one of the best replies on this post...trust an American....No Really!!
  16. @ Newt.... thanks for dropping in....We are talking of quantities of around 30kg bulk. Have looked into Ebay and the largest bulk pack is 10kg. @ ayjay....ethnic dolls exist but the simple truth is they are not popular. There are also others such as Horror, gothic and primate.
  17. The post I am going to leave is not meant to condone nor condemn any action that leads to loss of live. 9/11 was in my opinion something that was going to happen to America sooner or later. The tragedy was that AlQueda chose a civilian target not a military one. Personally I feel war should not target civilians, but history shows that ALL NATIONS eventually ignore this decency. The UK and USA are as equally guilty of killing civilians in greater numbers than the 9/11 attack. One example was Dresdon attack in 1945 which killed 100,000 civilians. Never forget that AlQueda, rightly or wrongly depending on the side of the fence you sit on, has declared war on the west and more so America. America has made many enemies globally, despite all the back slapping and shaking hands, the country is still in danger even today. I have an opinion that too many nations are watching their neighbours gardens when their own are overgrown and full of disease. As to the 9/11 memorial. It is a confirmation of the good in people. The emergency services who without care or thought laid down their lives to try. It is a memorial to the senseless slaughter of innocents. I pity and offer sympathy to all who have lost loved ones, on whichever side. I remind everyone that all people have the capacity for cruelty and intolerance. Don't be a sheep. But most importantly it also needs to serve as a warning that no country is too big.
  18. A good reborner can make upto £3,000 clear profit for their product. I don't find them disturbing at all. There are many childless people out there and as someone else said they don't mess up the home.
  19. If that is the mindset of cyclists I am going to carry a mini sledgehammer in my boot. If a cyclist hits my car I will get out and break up his bike with the hammer....who cares if a few bikes get trashed. @ Ken L---if you have a mounted camera you can provide this information to the police and they will follow up. I have to agree that cyclists who behave correctly need the same protection as any other road user.
  20. As a conscientious road user did you not assist the cyclist and provide him with a witness statement? The driver would have been prosecuted for careless driving...6 pointer I believe. The problem I see it is that people who use the road think they are the only one on the road. Me personnally, I drive as if every other road user is an idiot and that way I always pre-suppose the other road user is going to do something stupid. I am always aware of cyclists given that I was almost killed off my bike when I was 15. @ colin---it is the pushing through that causes issues when the s**ts take of your car parts, like mirrors or scrape your paintwork.. AT JUNCTIONS, TRAFFIS LIGHTS, ROUNDABOUTS AND SUCH ONLY EMERGENCY SERVICES HAVE THE RIGHT TO PUSH THROUGH.
  21. The north clifton stretch of the river trent produced 27 Gudgeon this weekend and a few Tommy Rough... The Laughterton stretch of the river Trent recorded its first 5lb Chub in 9 years. Also Chublings were caught in greater numbers than ever before. All looks good. @ Phone----in many UK waters live baiting is now banned for the reason of preventing disease transfer. I know that my club waters have banned it entirely and check all the pike anglers they approach.
  22. My Wife makes reborn dolls and has asked me to enquire if any UK member can answer a specific question. Does anyone know of a warehouse or wholesaler where bulk purchase of filling glass beads is available? This is a very strange request I know and perhaps not many will know of the reborning hobby but if anyone can help it would be appreciated. Thankyou in advance.
  23. I unfortunately do not have a good opinion of cyclists either. They ignore the rules of the road that drivers must adhere too. They ride on roads when bike paths are available. They push through you in traffic qeues. They automiatically assume they have right of way at junctions. Traffic lights do not exist for them and if one of them takes off your wing mirror they just ride off free from penalty. Had a Peugeot 406 and an ignorant cyclist smashed off my offside mirror and rode off. I caught up with him and he rode off laughing. Fortunately a plain police car was beside me and they dealt with him quite firmly. It took me 9 months to recoup my losses. Cyclists should have insurance if they are on the road.
  24. Joke Only. Are you sure that the two soldiers did not identify a hidden inferiority complex in your daughter and decide to lower their own standards to make your daughter feel superior?.... Joke Only. In all seriousness not every woman driver is bad, just 99.9% of them... Women tend to be over cautious IMO. I see it with my Wife aswell. It is as if they see the road differently and cannot make an instant decision based upon the status of the road. Women, as happens with my wife, tend to need 5-10 seconds before they make a move. It is this and their seemingly over cautious driving that can completely slow down any road to a crawl.
