  1. They've all spawned where I was fishing, Dales. Plenty of almost fully healed 'love bites'. Nothing left to do for post coital males and females but to chomp their way through the silver fish population and for love spurned Jacks to throw a hissy-fit at anything vaguely fish shaped Best lure fishing session I've ever had... Can't wait for June 16th! Want me some Topwater action!
  2. More updates and alterations to my site. A few more fishing blog entries after nearly half a year of neglect plus some actual reviews of tackle. Namely a selection of lures by Mark Houghton of MH Custom Lures. I've now started a map by map guide to BF3 Multiplayer for the PS3.
  3. Had 3 1/2hrs out this morning on a boat with a mate of mine. Had to come in at 1300hrs though, to go to work!!! Had 12 Pike myself and mate had 10. The biggest was iro 15-16lb caught by my mate. My largest was about 6-7lb. All to lures! Great few hours fishing! Out on my 'yak Sunday for one last glorious session with the LAS Armada, can't wait, the Pike are really having it here atm!
  4. And the other 2 were probably caught a few miles down the road from me...
  5. Have kayak, will paddle... not averse to a tow though...
  6. When you go, let me know. I'm one of them dodgy local types Don't worry too much, we only do sacrifices to the gods on the equinoxes, oh, and early November to thank the god of the sea for giving us gills and webbed feet... I have better knowledge of the northern broads, rivers bure, ant and thurne. But at that time of year though, EVERYWHERE produces on both northern and southern systems. I'm not kidding. The only help you'll probably need is getting your keepnet in...
  7. The 3 fish I caught on the Friday. All the Thurne Pike seem to have dark striations on the caudal fin but they were so pronounced on this one.
  8. Bet you can't wait to do your hair and nails though, eh? You could check a few updates on my blog if you're really bored? Even started a BF3 guide if you're into that sort of thing. I generally resort to the PS3 when I have 'off' days. Believe it or not, I have days when I just don't fancy fishing even though I could. I think of it as fuse that pops to make sure it doesn't become 'too much of a good thing' to me.
  9. I've just started using FC for lure fishing. Where I fish there is no way I can claim to be fishing for 'Perch Only'. So far 3 Pike and a Perch on one FC trace and 2 Pike on another. So far no nicks, roughness or damage that I can see, even with a magnifying glass. Still wouldn't even consider it for baitfishing. Lures only. As far as I'm concerned, every trace will eventually fail somewhere down the line. If I have FC, so far, I feel I'm more likely to notice any damage than on Steel traces and much more likely than on Ti traces.
  10. No it's not mate. Fair and square in the mouth Glad you like the pics, was suprised at the quality myself from a camera phone.
  11. My set-up, now fully rigged. A bit disorganised but it was at the end of my first session on the 27th Feb.
  12. Had a few hours on an undisclosed Broad, Thursday Afternoon. Had 3 Jacks, 1st to a trolled Crystal Minnow about 3lb. 2nd within 5 minutes of the first on a 3" Lunatic about 4lb. Caught the 3rd on the way back in the same area on the trolled Yo-Zuri about 1 1/2lb. Only took pics of the 3rd and smallest fish, showed intense spawning 'marks'. Wonder if this is the Pike version of 'carpet burn'? Also finally christened the 10-40g Roadrunner! Was using it to troll with. It was an area I'd passed before and fished with no luck on previous visits so probably a spawning site. I'll try to resist fishing it again anytime soon, let 'em rest up.
  13. Yeah, took me a few tries before it finally clicked into place that I was twiddling the wrong damn way! Thanks for that Newt. Tried someting similar, the Cabelas Jig Spinners in size 4, Colorado blades, on 2" Kopyto's and the like but no luck. They're really single minded when spawning it seems, can't say I blame them mind Fingers crossed a few of them will be 'spent' come Thursday and looking for something a bit more avidly. I know I get hungry afterwards
  14. Current exchange rates put that at 79p for a litre... For us it's the equivalent of about $2.06, iro £1.30GBP, per litre.
  15. Thursday. Finished work at 1400. Plan:- Commence Operation 'Pull finger out and fit kayak with bits and bobs that I've bought/hoarded for the last few weeks'. Quite an inspired operation title I thought. 2000hrs comes and I've cut and drilled holes, fitted 2 scotty rod holders, the anchor trolley and fitted a 'bits bucket'. Break out the beers and dream of Friday! Friday. Donned my flight suit, racked the 'yak and headed to my favourite spot on the upper Thurne. Put in, paddled to and tied up to the bank for my first few casts. Nothing for a while then, I spot a flash from under my kayak... I'm sure that was a Perch... Out somes the UL gear, 2" reno killer on a 3.5g head. 2nd cast, bang, I'm in! Christened the Rod, Reel and Kayak in one fell swoop! A lovely Perch of around a pound. Movied on further downstream onto the broad. You need 'special' permission to fish this broad... I just stayed in the navigation channel. Cheeky but not strictly against the rules... Paddled to the far end and anchored and drifted all the way down with the wind. On reaching the staithe end again, I took a strikingly marked 3-4lb Pike. Really well defined black markings on its' fins. This one came to a 3" kopyto. Slowly paddling back to the car, I got another Pike, not much bigger than the perch tbh but still, very happy to end the day with a future monster! Saturday. Decided to explore, so I went to Wayford Bridge on the River Ant. Never fished here before but variety and all that... First few casts, all is good. Then my trusty Trabucco Exod 320 reel starts to feel, well, funny. Then it stops working... Cue much profanity, reminiscent of a full on tantrum, circa 2yo! Pathetic I was I don't know why it got me so riled but I was absolutely fuming! From then on I just wasn't in the right frame of mind. Stuck with only the UL set-up and no idea of where is likey to hold fish, I basically give up, half heartedly having a few casts here and there to no avail. Ended the day early. Bit gutted, confused at my own reaction and frame of mind. Just one of those days I guess. Sunday. Went for a walk along Sea Palling with my beloved. Ended up being a reconnaissance mission That's got me thinking Monday. I decided once again to explore, so I headed off to Wroxham. Spent a few hours exploring bridge broad with no luck. Bugger, I was banking on at least a follow there... Out on the main river, no luck either... Funny, I swear this place usually throws up at least a Jack or 2... Onwards to the marinas... Still nothing... I'm not despondent, just confuddled. I really don't get this... Even a few chaps in their rowboat had nothing on lives and thats a banker tactic in the marinas... :? On returning, I popped into Wroxham Angling to have a chat. Apparently sport has just died there the past few weeks. A few good Pike came out over the weekend but nothing on lures. He estimated there must have been nearly 50 anglers hitting Wroxham over the weekend and for everyone who landed, he reckoned 4 or 5 blanked. By my reckoning I paddled/drifted a good 10km's over the 3 days I had out. Despite mediocre sport/blanking, I've bonded with the kayak some more now and can see me having great fun on the broads this year. I really need to do my homework on new places, instead of going out on a whim or working off experience from 5-6 years ago! Oh and just had a fiddle with the reel I 'broke' Saturday... just the retainer nut on the spindle came loose... Do I feel stupid or what? Pics coming soon, if I can find the cable that attaches my phone to the PC!
  16. Post reported to admin for breach of AN protocol. For further entertaiment, get 2 calculators, type in 8008 and hold over your nipples.
  17. "Good Luck" Bugger off, I don't need luck, I rely on skill, cunning and bursts of half-arsed spontaneous genius! Tbh, I rely on luck as much as anyone but whenever someone wishes you luck, it automatically gets cancelled out to retain universal quantum stability. "You look daft in that hat" No I don't, I wear it with panache, you're just jealous. "Drive safely" No, I want to crash my car into the nearest hedge. Honestly, it makes as much sense as being told "Don't 'Teabag' a Honey Badger". Do I actually come across as suicidal? "Aren't Motorbikes Dangerous?" Erm, yes, if you don't know how to use them. Much like a knife, pair of scissors or plastic bags. Even independant thought can be risky. Try it you imbecile.
  18. Now THATS a good idea!!! Make him squirm...
  19. And the Panspermia theory will begin to gain a foothold while also challenging and redefining the liklihood of life spontaneously occuring independantly, on other planets. Would be quite a shock but very telling, if we were to find ET, whether sentient or not, shared a great deal of genetic material with us.

It'll be better for me to wait a bit, if only to see if the 'itch' persists...

I'm a sod for dog-earing! I do try to look after my books though and you can't beat paper for reading off. Trying to weigh up the pro's and con's of each tablet atm. May wait for the iPad 3 to come out as suggested and snap up a used iPad 2. Only problem is that I'm not going to be the only one!

I know nothing cheaper would beat an iPad, but is there a middle ground between that and say, the Kindle? Something with wi-fi, a half decent processor and useable OS?
  23. See my post! Honestly, that's almost word perfect for what happened to me except it was an old Merc with moondust in what was left of the tyre treads!

Never tried an iPhone, apparently they're more addictive than buying lures!? This is why I've never tried one... I need more lures...

Cool! Might have to get me something like that then. Are there any reasonable alternatives to iPads? They're a bit too much for me to justify atm. I'll do a search and my own research anyway but wondering if anyone can talk from experience? Already seen a few running Android. I mean, how powerful a tablet do I really need for web-browsing, bit of WP and reading a few ebooks? That is all I can see myself using it for tbh.
