  1. I recomend marmite flavour cheese paste for winter. Can pull out carp all day long on it.
  2. 34kg. But i think your friend may have caught a British record?!
  3. Dwai big pit reels! What a great reel. Simple as that!
  4. Dwai big pit reels! What a great reel. Simple as that!
  5. The river Wye offers great pike especially through Ross. Wait for the flooding to go down mind and try lures. A roving lure approach has worked for me in the past.
  6. Im back home now. i got there at 9.30 in hard rain and wind and began to wish i never came. At about 12 the rain stopped and the wind died down and i hooked into a 5lb carp. About 1 hours later i had another and just as i was about to leave i had another. 12lb in total Very happy! I didnt think it was possible in winter . Just proves that the "Don't feed the fish" technique works a charm. How was your day Newt?
  7. Is this it?? Looks like a new record to me (120lb i recon)
  8. Now come on! Try inspecting this image and inverting the colours. Its just silly!
  9. This is turing into a detective forum ! I admit this guy is really good at what he does but what he does is enhance photos . Could you enhance some of my pics?? Turn a jack pike into a 30lber !
  10. Tomorro im going to try my local still water. The temp. will be between 5-12oC and i think i am in with a chance. Im going to throw out a method feeder (meaty marine groundbait only) with a single soaked pellet (crazy baits), with no loose feed. While that is on the alarm im going to have a play with the pole, using worm/meat/sweetcorn on the bottom. Im going to feed a little bit here. Do you think i'll catch? I think im doing everything right??
  11. hmmmmm. I think you are starting to sway my views.. I have heard goldfish have a STM (short term memory) span of about 10 seconds. Fish do feel stress (fact) so possibly fear and pain? Im open minded. P.S. Do chessnuts really do that!
  12. Take a look at the rigs page! Looks like a collection of rig images nicked off other pages  . (possibly with permission) Rig page 1 seems to have a few rig pics off AN including Gaffers helicopter rig drawing. Gaffer are you aware of this?? P.S. Cheers Ferret
  13. If fish dont feel pain the bolt rig would not work. It is obvious they feel pain. Ever had a pike flick about when the hook is being removed? Or a bleak jump about like crazy trying to get off the hook when being swung in? This guy talks c**p!
  14. Ok, some of these carp are great catches but some are obvious fakes. For example 5th from bottom image. This can be done easily using Adobe Paintshop pro. or other such programms. Silly people . Anglers are usually so honset .
  15. "......." . Wish the tackle shops were open today! Whos going fishing tomorro then?
  16. Chris, i also watch discovery channel! (or just the adverts)
  17. "Can i go fishing now?" --- Is this your voice or the babies ? Congratulation Bilko!
  18. What is barbel fishing like at this time of year? I imagine its ok as river fish feed all year round. I want to catch a barble of about 5lb+. I have only ever caught them by mistake while chub fishing (about 2lb). What bait do i need? How much will i need? (im told LOADS is needed  ) Where should i fish? Cheers
  19. I agree with the barbel & perch guy. Look at the shape of a barbel. They are made for fighting flows near the bottom. Ok, floods do carry them into still water but i think pond owners should leave them to the rivers and not stock them.
  20. Hummmmm..... Hard to choose. Was my best year yet with a good few big bags. In order: 1) 4 carp (all around 15lb) caught on the surface, 2) A big bag of chub, trout and grayling, 3) 2 keepnet sections full of bleak. Next year im gonna concentrate on tench, bream and roach.
  21. I recon 1lb 4oz but you could probably get away with telling people a bit more . Nice catch!
