  1. Can anyone point me towards a good day ticket section of the Severn somewhere around Bridgnorth? Any info on tactics, directions etc would be great! Thanks, Andy.
  2. Use 20lb unless you are casting a huge distance - Fireline tends to lose quite a bit of strength at the knot. I use a grinner with the line doubled up, then superglue it. Andy.
  3. Hmm, I'll give it a go, sounds promising. Can you night fish there? Andy.
  4. Used to fish a lily-covered lake in Herts. I always found you had to cast right under the edge to get any takes, but the fish weren't too fussy baitwise. I had a lot of success on maple peas though. Using braid helps cut throught the pads when you hook a fish, and you'll need to sit on your rods and fish with the anti-reverse on and the rods superglued to the rests! Every inch you can stop the carp getting into the pads will help. Andy.
  5. Trust me to miss that issue! Can anyone help me out with a scan of the article, or a quick rundown on the new rules? Andy.

    HEMP

You don't have to cook hemp on the stove, you can stick it in a bucket and pour boiling water on, then leave it for 24hrs with a towel over the top, It should be fine after that. Andy.
  7. I always feed the swim first, take a look at the match boys, the first thing they do is stick in some feed. Andy.
  8. I like to put down a big bed of groundbait (Expo mixed with brown crumb), and mix in caster, hemp and chopped worm, plus a handful of corn, then fish a cage feeder with corn and worm on the hook, or a good sized waggler with similar bait if you are closer in. Tench LOVE worms, I've had tench to 8lb+ using this method, and it seems to work wherever I've fished, from drains to reservoirs. Andy.
  9. Used to fish Sywell a lot, but gave up after the legering ban. I heard that a new lease was in negotiation. Does anyone know what happened, and whether I can leger again? Thanks, Andy.
  10. Don't know about lug, but I've tried ragworm and tench seem to love 'em Andy
  11. I've got an 8m margin carp pole, which I've ringed up and stuck a reel on. Looks daft but with a centrepin attached it's the best thing I've used for trotting deep swims on the drains near me. It's pretty light and great fun to play tench on. Anyone else thought of this or am I the only one mad enough? Andy.

  13. Can anyone recommend a good stillwater around Telford/Bridgnorth? I'm off there next week, would like to find a nice lake where I can get plenty of bites. I'd like a bit of variety, not just a carp puddle! Any help/directions/tips would be appreciated. Thanks! Andy.

  15. Had a Heron on a wobbled sprat once, that was NO fun, they're evil sods especially when they've got line wrapped down their legs. If you snag a swan, watch out for the wings rather than the beak, my mate had his glasses smashed once! Andy.

  17. I put the rod down, hang a bobbin on the line and wait. Not much else you can do short of going in after it, which isn't always recommended when you might be next to get stuck! Used to fish a lake with huge pad beds, and the only way to get 'em out was by putting the rod down and waiting. Andy.

  19. I can't stand those 20ft drain Tench busting me up in the weeds and laughing at me for another six months!!!!!

  23. I had a 'mare at Salagou. It is full of vines (yes, proper vines, from when they flooded the valley), so can be very snaggy in some areas. We got severely ****ed by a bailiff for night fishing, even though out rods were wound in, then I had my stove confiscated (no fires allowed, and a stove counts). Then it rained for five days solid! Caught one ten pounder, and a 2lb roach, but lost a few on the snags too. Having said that, we weren't experienced and went unprepared. We saw some great fish banked, including a 55lb common. It's not too hard if you can find fish in a clear area. I'd say a boat and fish finder are ESSENTIAL otherwise you'll spend days trying to find clear spots to fish in. Andy.
  24. Apparently there are some very big Carp in the lower Ouse around Ely. I've walked the bank in the Ten Mile area a few times and haven't seen any yet, so can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks, Andy.
  25. What is your top mix? For me it's definitely 'The Grange'. Emptied Willow Park on it on a number of occasions! Andy.
