    Wasps

After looking at the pic provided by ajp (cheers) it definately wasn't a hornet, probably a queen wasp. One less nest this year.

    Wasps

I don't think it was a hornet, i thought they are a reddish colour.

    Wasps

Just had a wasp fly into the room through the very open window (HOT  ) which was promptly disposed off with the spray, Now on inspection this thing is HUGE I cant remember ever seeing one that big, maybe its foreign. Is this a sign of things to come what with the warmer longer summers, GM crops and the large amount of imported food? (complete with grubs) Prepare for the invasion of the super wasps
  5. Just a note to say how pleased i a with pure fishing I rang them on friday about a part for an ABU 5501 and i recieved the part this morning completly free of charge Excellent service
  6. quote: Hi Lee..Not too sure about using you're scale hook to test knot strength...The scale manufacturer's seem to advise against it as it can damagage the scales if the line breaks... Yes good point, i have heard that too what i should have said is use an old set of scales, i use a set of "ancient" scales i found in a boot sale
  7. Missed them too!!!! He only lives 10 mile away too so i could have collected. Perhaps this is a sign that i shouldnt get them...
  8. Bummer.... You beat me by one minute anthony!!!!! b****x
  9. Practice at home until you get it right. Go here http://www.claphamangling.co.uk/knots.htm When you tie one, hook it to something, wind the line round your scale hook and pull, the knot should hold and the line should break at its breaking strain. You know your hook knot is good then.
  10. Peter check your messages, Thanks everyone for the input.
  11. As the new season is quickly approaching i am in the process of of buying new tackle, got a nice new rod from deepinvader an abu 5501 from jeepster and some new lures from harris angling. Now its time for a new net, the carp net i have been using is totally useless in the boat and for trebles getting tangled, i didn't even use a net from the boat last year i chinned them all but that can be a bit dodgy when one set of trebles is out of the mouth or right where you chin the fish. The two i have been looking at are the huntsman from Harris angling and the masterline toothy criter pike net, now there is quite a price difference in the two, £50 for the harris and £25 for the masterline, my question is does the price difference reflect the quality and the fish safety difference? I would also like to know peoples views on other similar nets. Thanks in advance Lee
  12. A pain maybe but not vermin.
  13. quote: Is it just my warped mind or should I educate my Son to recognise vermin like cats Why do you call cats vermin?
  14. Jeepster, please don't feel bad that the reel was not perfect, after all it is second hand and once it has been put right i will still have a blody good reel for half the price of a new one. Im not really sure why i didn't go for deep invaders stuff, perhaps i thought i could get it cheaper. quote: was one of those who recommended trevor, bet lee is wishing he'd taken my advice now..... well.... No not at all.
  15. My mate came back empty. But he knows a bloke who knows a bloke who knows another bloke who has it Should be sorted by the weekend, he probably won't charge me but if he does it wont be much, he reckens(sp) they are about 30p each. All's well that ends well.
  16. Hi jeepster. I didn't know if i should say who it was. Anyway as i said i would still buy stuff from jeepster As soon as i convert my mate to baitcasters i will be contacting you.
  17. Sorry argyle. It wasn't Trevor salmon. I should have said that in the last post. Even if you do know who i got it from (i think we posted somewhere about the sale) he has been excellent in his response and i would still do business with him. [ 04. 21. quote: Incidentally, from your unfortunate experience, I gather it is therefore possible to convert an Abu multiplier to backwind? Is that correct? If so, how? Remove part 4490
