  1. I've bought one of the scales off David a few weeks ago and trust me, whoever is thinking of buying them, stop thinking and buy them! They are great. They are bigger than your average scales but are light for their size and saves you the hassle of trying to see what size fish you've got when you have an annalogue set. Its so easy to read and to use and for £25 its a bargain of a lifetime!
  2. Thats a beautiful fish there may I say! I'd love to catch a Golden Orfe but none of the fish I have fished have them stocked in them. I live in the Brentwood area in the South East in Essex. Anyone know of any waters that have them. I dont mind if they are just tiny I would just love to catch one. Also does anyone know the history behind orfe? Why are they sometimes called Ide and why are Blue Orfe not considered a species to be included in the Britich Record Lists?
  3. Ducks can p*** me off at times especially when theyre is a large group of them or if there are babies everywhere which are dumb and knock your line and sometimes get caught a little then the parents go mental at u! But swans are the ones that really get on my nerves!! The parents are sooooooooprotective and just dont get lost somewhere - they just have to come back and jump about where you peg is making big splashes and screaming all the time scaring all the bloody fish! I dont hate them, I just find them annoying when I'm at fishing. When they are in theyre nests or far away they are fun to watch.
  4. Does anyone know exactly what makes a Ghost Carp a Ghost Carp. I know they are whiter versions of Carp but how did it happen. Is it something to do with cross breeding? Or is it natural and just happen to be like that? Please help its doing my head in!!!! Thanks! [ 25 July 2002, 09:11 PM: Message edited by: Jamie Thornton ]
  5. Thank you mate! I will take some of your ideas into account!!
  6. Does anyone record all of there record fish for each species in a log book? If you do what do you include for each species (eg. date, bait, rig, weather, location)? Also, if you can, could you take a picture and either e-mail me it or put the pic up on here? I have done one of my own but I dont think it looks right. I think it is good though to have a log book though because if you print it off every year and put in a folder, you can look back on what you caught then, and how you've improved.
  7. So how did you all learn how to fish and how/what got you into it? My Dad got me into fishing when I was 10. I got my first Carp (approx 1lb) and I was amazed. Then 4 trips later I got my PB 6lb 4oz which got me hooked!!! I then bought loads of books and videos and watched Discovery Home & Leisure to get me a little more advanced. I owned a few fishing videos by John Wilson and some odd books here and there ten I started to Collect The Art Of Fishing. Does anyone else own this because if you havent you must get it - its really good! However it got stopped by my newsagent because people werent picking them up and I couldnt be bothered anymore but now I do which is why I'm asking if anyone has it to sell in the Wanted forum - hehe!
  8. Can the person who e-mailed me about selling these to me please e-mail me again because I have lost your e-mail and I really want the collection. I think you know who you are but if not you were the person who said it was a friend of yours who originally owned them and you was selling them for £35-40 Thanks a lot!
  9. Does anyone know what binder this collection is on at the moment please? And do you know if there is a list of all the issues with what page numbers are in which issue so I can check which issues I am missing?????? Any help would be well appreciated
  10. I think its great for some reason. However it gets too hard every challenge you move onto. I mean just that one fish out of the hundreds there are, just to complete the level with a bonus fish which doesnt do anything is a bit harsh. Other than that it is great. I'm still trying to figure out where the bigger fish are and what lures to use on them. I've probably got it the wrong way round which is why I aint catching much!?
  11. I know this hasnt got anything to do with reality fishing but it has sort of because of the baits abd fish etc but I didnt want to put it in the non-fishing forums because not many people go in there
  12. Has anyone played this or owns it? Well if you have what do you think? I think its great even though I'm not really a predator fisherman. Wouldnt it be really good tho if there was another Matt Hayes Fishing game but had all Course fish in it such as Carp, Tench, Roach, Bream, Catfish, Eels, Sturgeon, Gudgeon etc? That would be great. I can just picture it - Computerised Course fish taking baits like maggots, sweetcorn and boilies, while throwing out groundbait and pellets etc. They have got to make one!!!!!!!!!!
  13. I've used Ultra bite aswell. Within 10 minutes my Dad had an 11lb 8oz Carp on Luncheaon Meat, flavoured with a few drops of the Ultra bite stuff. After that me and him had nothing the whole day! I think thats its so distinct, once a fish has been caught on it, it will never go near it again!?
  14. This is what I require: 2x Shimano Hyperloop Specimen 3lb TC Rods 2x Shimano XTE 10,000 SuperBaitRunner Reels 2x Shimano GTE 8000 BaitRunner Reels 2x Fox Micron M Buzzers Anyone got any of these or know any places that sell them for cheap, please let me know. Thanks a lot! Does anyone know any sites that sell used tackle that has these on there too? Thanks a lot!!! [ 21 July 2002, 12:08 AM: Message edited by: Jamie Thornton ]
  15. YES THERE WAS A POINT! Just wanted to let others know. People might be interested and looks like they were by the other posts that followed!!
  16. Thanks David Platt, Peter Sharpe and Nugg. I think I over reacted a little on the watchers comment towards me - I admit that. All I waas doing was making a convasation and sharing my experiance on what I had seen. I was just amazed at what I saw when I fisrt noticed them in there and realised it was very rare to see them there especially in shallow conditions in the open and with limited food. Well I'm glad this is over and please feel free to say your opinions on similar sites with fish like these. Again, thank you David Platt, Peter Sharpe and Nugg, your coment made me feel more relieved that someone knew what I was gettin that and that I wasnt attempting to do any harm by sharing my experiance! 17. Thanks! Atleast I can fish with a little less worriedness now. I really thought there was something wrong with these and left me thinking whether I should be using them or not. i dread to think what harm it could do if it did swallow them all the way down?
  18. And another thing, if you think I would do anything to hurt fish you couldnt be anymore wrong. I care as much about fish as the next frequent angler! I dont do disservices OK?
  19. The Watcher, I'm not sure what you meant by doing everyone a disservice?!!!!! - all I was foing was watching them feed etc. The fish are not dying or anything and its not a fishery! - its a natural stream which they happen to be in a seemingly be very healthy. How am I doing people a disservice? If anything I think they should remain there as its there home because they've grown up there. And whats all this about me being kept awake coz I woont phone the rod licence number!? I dont know if your trying to scare me or if its a joke but I aint laughing. I AINT DONE ANYTHING WRONG! >
  20. Thats what I was worried about - what if the fish swallowed it?? Do you think is would be able to spit it out (like puke it up itself) or would it pass through. Well I got the idea of tieing a knot around the loop on the SPHR with the hair. It doesnt do hardly any damage to the loop. Its just that you have gotta stick with luncheon meat the whole day because you cant get it off until you do it at home when you have the comfort and time. Well good luck with them everyone!
  21. Anyone tried out them 'Stay Put Hair Riggers'? They are GREAT! Your Luncheon meat dont fall off when u cast! The only things is, I dont now how you actually put them on properly. Do you put them on the end of the hair or the hook because when u put them on the hair loop, it it quite far from the hook and I'm not sure if fish can get the hook in its mouth before feeling the weight of the bomb and gettin the hook secured in its mouth. Meanwhile, on the hook it just comes off!!
  22. God, neverknew lines were so complicated. I just use 15lb line. When I go to a fishing tackle shop, I just ask for 15lb line please and thats it!?
  23. With the rings, I put them directly on the hook and with stiff rigs, I just use a normal hair - works best for me anyway, I dont usually go too complicated on rig myself.
