I have maybe 6 of these reals have been using them for more years than I care to remmber. A good reel as long as they are service properly. Spares are availabe from a few shop's that I know about, so if you need second hand or new send me an email and I'll reply. MDG-Fishing all the way:)

Fished it many years ago a good fishery for barbel & chub on Meat & Cheese and You do get plagued by small dace/gudjon. I used a feeder tactic and a lot of hemp.

When I last saw Ray was at Kingston upon Thames & around the Teddington Lock as his mother used to live in that area at one time. I saw him at Kings Weir Cheshunt Herts, so he has got around over the years. My main point is that starting at Kingston he should be traceable through the Council as a Rate payer. ? John, I bought it 3 years ago and it was top of the range then, & if you add up wat 6 cartridges cost & Parallel cable cost then you might uderstand. sorry guys did'nt go today the 7th december to the avon too bloody cold.hoping to go tomorrow instead,,the baliff is called stewart now not a bad guy .will give you tips on how to fish and where to fish.....still flooded out at harnham bridge...need waders to get through..other than that not too bad...who mentioned salmon...there was one the other week jumping like mad..didnt think there was salmon in the avon..will let you all know what happens tomorrow...tight lines to you all......... Told you about Salmon & I havn't been that way for about 15years. Hard luck on not catching. There is always next time .

Cheers Chester1 I keep looking on e-bay but havent seen one. I know they are collectable but, I just love it I have another one in mint and have taken the winding cup but that one has not had the back wind gear taken out. Talking about mick I spoke to him yesterday , to thank him for the other work carried out and reminded him that he took the gear out of the Abu 507 that I Use just after the gulf war ended 10 / 11 years ago the reason the I know just after war, was that the reels came from the gulf, cheep at the time. Once again thaks for your help Chester1. To all anglers that visit this fourm if you see parts for the Abu 507/508 please let me know I will pay of course. Please Help , I Need a Winding Cup, Due to losing one in the trent earlier this year. Does any one know a tackle shop or have one for sale, I love this old reel. This threed has been here before and I had 2 leeds one in Japan, one in Aldershot . The one in Aldershot has some parts and is keeping his Eyes open. (thanks Chester) Chester , Mick has done some work for me lately frist time i have delt with him in for 10 years nothing changes he's still very helpful.

As stated by Nugg, it can be repaired however some times the cost outweigh the value of your Rod. I Used to repair Rods & often got comment on the cost, but you pay for time & labour, If You spent 2 or 3 hours effecting a repair, what would your houly rate be plus parts. ?????
