  1. Never erase anything phone if its no help to steve its always useful for others as a reference as in 'Search'....
  2. Now you lot with 61 views are making me feel old with no replies
  3. I hope you go ahead with the book. It sounds like it will make interesting reading...Come on DO IT!
  4. Originally joined in 2000 on here after 20 years experience but it was really towards the end of my interests on fishing. I re-vamped a bit later but still did not really have it in me. I took up pest control with Birds of prey and although scaled down in that department now i did my first session or day ticket with a Argos kit (my over £2000 equipment was sold apart from a lot of bottom end tackle) just to see if was still there. Well i blanked in November but just that one day lit the spark and selling a few birds is getting much equipment back. I think it was just the water that inspired me the most as i never caught anything and neither did my two mates . Something about the water and the smell and the exitement of trying to out fool a fish just as out fooling a rabbit with my BOP. many say Angling comes round again when maybe familly duties or work duties slaken up a bit. anyone found this? Basically you become an old Git!
  5. Now that really would be a round trip i think that would have to be a 2 month session Sounds great though. I think you guys are lucky up there if you can find one @Budgie. Any info yet on those syndicates buddy
  6. The Frome was very close to my sisters years a go and i dangled a line in it a few times. Keep me informed (or forum) of your success i would love to know out of interest It seems a little mixed in mileage/Time that people are willing to travel. At the moment i fish a 100 mile round trip and feel that unles irs atleast a 48 hr stay i would never ever think of a days fishing at that distance. I think a 50 mile round trip to a day ticket is max . A bummer i have is i have a few nice places to fish in Essex but i have to take the hit of £4 for the Dartford tunnel and if that cocks up it really cocks up!!!!
  7. WOW!...That's some great fishing there mate. I did hear years a go of something like this there was also a similar stretch ware a huge amount of Pike were taken i believe by Des Taylor . It was an incredible amount of fish. i remember getting to see his hands after the session and for a guy who knows how to handle Pike i knew that was just pure volume of fish Great stuff!
  8. Yeah i can tell by their knowledge. nice one phone @ Dales you are right but perhaps i worded it incorrectly. The smaller shoal is just followed by the bigger ones just picking up any dead or decapitated or injured fish which is why a big dead one lying on the bottom is an easy touch and a full meal worth going for. My birds of prey work on the same principle although sole hunters some do work in packs with the younger ones ( usually males) kill or chase and the bigger females take the spoils first
  9. In this weather probably January !!!!!!!!!! I guess Spring is a good bet say around April + But like others have said you have always got a chance of catching anything.
  10. You guys are devoted Anglers...I am thinking as in a weekend or similar or are we talking about just a days fishing
  11. what would you consider to be acceptable in your own mind how far to travel to a club or more as a syndicate . 10 miles...30.......50....100 miles!!!
  12. People strike for Zander too soon whether live ir dead bait. Certainly on live bait. the way the Zander shoal works is the younger ones will head the adult bigger ones. The Head of the shoal move forward slashing anything that is in their path quite often not stopping but either taking chunks or slashing their quarry. They obviously if the float say starts bobbing or the alarms to do odd little finiky beeps are just causing ripples moving the line/float and sometimes will half get hold of the live bait but release as it goes sweeping through hence by the time you strike its long gone. After they come through the bigger Zander come through feeding on the slashed and damaged fish and then if you get lucky will see yours swimming around or a dead bait and will take it. There will be no beeps or little bobs the line will spin off very quick. Zander have very small mouths and so a treble hook is quite bad for them especially deep hooked but a single due to the massive shakes of its head shakes the hook out. I used to use the DB hooks to good effect
  13. That's funny. Some people. And we are supposed to be the most intelligent animal on the planet....LOL
  14. Steve. Thankyou for the reccommendation i shall bare them in mind
  15. The Trades description Act says it has too. Although i have no doubt The Badge of a product hypes up the price and they make a big margin they still have a reputation to keep. I am told by very knowledgable Anglers you say this is the product regardless of what is on the tin? So please convince me Guys who use them on here why i should have one....
  16. i am not sure i would feel comftable buying 2nd hand on E-bay anyway. I have always said to myself never but anything Electrical on there. You have no idea if water has got in and whether they work right and you have paid good money. I like the new Delkim Evo or the new Fox as mentioned above . As for off brand i have not got a clue?
  17. I love it. I can't really see to much else over here on boilies being taken. Maybe a big Tench or somethin but fish them with Wrigglies and worms who knows it often makes me wonder what can lurk in these big carp filled bait waters. i bet there is a 20lb Tench out there in one of them
  18. I disliked it since i was 18 when on Xmas day i had the most horrendous toothache ever. It really was a blinder but nowhere was open. I was literally climbing the walls in agony . The hospital said its not life threatning Sir and there is nobody here to see you anyway. Xmas day night and all boxing day was just suicidal. on the 27th i camped at my dentists door 3 hours early. After an X-ray he said there was a huge infection and could not take it out 'YOU SHOULD HAVE COME EARLIER!'. Well he was lucky to be alive at this point. I took the anti biotics but it really did nothing. I drove down to Kings hospital in london which is a dental training hospital. by now the side of my face was drooping the nerves so badly effected and now it was moving into my throat. sitting there my father said he is struggling to breath. 'WE WILL BE OUT SOON SIR '!!!!!!. Then a nurse walking by said nothing and rushed me straught in . They STILL where reluctant as the poison would get into my bloodstream and were talking of making a damn hole in my throat so i could breath while injecting heavy doses of anti biotics into me while being admitted and drilling morphine into me. One guy looked at me in the group and said nothing in the discussion and i caught his eye and i was now in tears and marched over got some pliers and took the tooth out . The amount of poisom going down that tube being sucked out was incredible but the relief i could never ever describe to you in words. Now after shaking the guys hand i left and made a check up for two weeks later and then she said 'You must see your dentist earlier before it gets worse sir'.... You could say that's an isolated example but its not. i wonder how many have lossed their lives because the ambulance crew where stretched that night and those few precious moments lost them their life. I bet over time 100's. There was a woman 20 odd years ago who broke down on xmas day. She was raped in a busy high street because it was xmas and everybody was eating Turkey and the streets were empty. Then she knocked on a pubs door as she could hear noise which was closest to her and it all went silent she kept banging and she heard a SHOOOOSH! and it was locked........ No mobiles back then. Then, after she had been picked up by a passer by and kept in hospital over xmas day and boxing day (oh yes ...nobody examined her xmas day as all away and a copper turned up 4 hours later). Then when her friend two days later went to get her car it had been towed away for being on a yellow line..... Well nevermind eh as it aint going to happen to me is it....that's why i don't hate it but i find it too extreme boring and quite dangerous . But then i would as the poor woman was my neughbour and every Xmas they had to section her because it left a terrible mental scar on her.... I wonder if jesus would have wanted that to happen to her because everyone was watching the queen and stuffing themselves on Xmas day as if not it definately would have never happened. happy xmas to you all . if you got toothache you screwed now mate just enjoy your xmas!! here the lesson endeth my desciples..
  19. Marmite soldiers and raw egg
  20. Idiots especially the second guy. How the hell in this day and age do they know he did not have a weapon. So we have a potential dead man or two or maybe more. And for what? A damn train ticket!! All three are idiots
  21. Well? it is a true statistic that there are more divorces after Xmas than any other time of year. There is more violence especially domestic at any other time of year. Even more than wene England lose at football. Jesus even to believers will admit jesus was not born on December 25th? I could go on. Now i see positive sides too but to be honest call me Humbug but the Negatives out way the positives by a mile unless you are under 14 !
