Not trying to hi-jack the convo, but i live just a few miles away form Guildford town centre and i've always wandered, if the Guildford stretch of the River Wey is owned by any particular club, or can anyone fish it?

Im quite intrested, has anyone caught anything on these frog lures. They look wierd to me, but has anyone caught using them?

Been out today to my local river and caught my very first pike. I am smiling from ear to ear, well, at least i would be if my rod tip didn't break. I was fishing close in and as soon as it was hooked, it lunged off, taking my rod tip with it, snapping it in half. Was a brand new rod aswell. Does annyone know where i can get a replacement top section for this rod as i really like it and dont want to have th through it away after three uses. http://postimg.org/my.php You should be able to follow that link for the culprit. From how you described it, the river also sounds good to me.

hm, i never thought carp would go after lures as many of them are designed to imitate smaller fish. Would you think a worm shapped lure could fool them? Seems plausible to me.

I've been recently browing pictures of fish, as i do in my spare time and i came across this website whihc shows alot fo pictures of diffrent fish, and some hunting. Around 5-7 pictures down, there is a picture of a carp that looks like it has been caught by a lure. My question is, has anyone else gone and caught Carp with a lure, or was it more a fluke? Quick question, im looking at a lure/spinning rod but i cant really tell what the difference between the two is. They both seem to do the same job in ways so is their any real difference? It will mainly be used for perch, chub, pike and slim possibility of eel and zander.

Sorry, im no help here, just being nosey, but, why would people have a problem Dave fishing for Pike if the river close season is open? I realise this might be a silly question and so i apoligise in that case. Inder.

Hi all Im hopefully going to my local lake to try lure fishing for Perch. There are no other predator fish, just the normal Carp, Roach, Tench etc. I have wire tarces but im wandering, if there're no Pike, do i still need to use a wire trace as some people have mentioned it could put off the Perch? I know Perch kinda have teeth but there not that big oor sharp, or am i mistaken? Thanks in advance

Hi, In the summer, im being taken to a place wher there will be Eels supposedly upto 9 Lbs. Now, i have never fished for Eels or Pike and as such, dont have any real experience with predators. My main question is what kind of equitment and tackle would you recomend for a begginer to go after Eels? If possible, bait ideas also would be welcome. Thanks in advance

I went fishing today and while out, hooked into this lovely little 5Lb 5 Oz Carp. However, it's one i haven't seen before and has a dark kind of shadow on it's face. MY main question is, Is it a ghost or common carp and what (If any) are the differences? I'm guessing it's a common with just some dark mark but i thought worth checking. I'm not targeting pike, i was just wandering what i would need anything different in order to go after them. Call me a wuss, but, im scared of those teeth in its mouth My main target would be perch and chub. I would one day like to learn how to target them, but as you rightly said, i would need to do courses and such before hand.

The stretch im fishing is the main stretch of the river and is at Mickleham, halfway between Leatherhead and Dorking. The stretch is just over two miles long and is fairly shallow. According to my club it has a very large head of chub. It also contains good numbers of roach, some dace, perch, bream and a good number of pike. Recent catches included a whopping 5lb perch a specimen 6lb chub and a huge 13lb barbel with pleasure bags approaching 50 lbs being taken on occasion. P.S that was taken form the website so i don't know how accurate it actually is. I have never caught a pike before, so say i wanted to target them, im guessing i would need special equipment. My main plan would be to use the float rod, doubt i would use the quiver tip there though.

Hey all. I plan on going river fishing on a speech if the river mole that my club owns. I am new to river fishing as i tend to go syillwaters. So my main question is what kind of gear, rod, set ups will i need?. Ill need to travel light anyway as itl be 3/4 of a hour walk. What are wire traces and are they needed? Thanks in advance

Hi In going fishing tomorrow at bury hills in working and in hoping to catch my first perch. People have mentioned using worms but I've used them before and the other species get to them first. In hoping there is someone who has managed to catch perch from this fishery and wouldn't mind sharing. Thanks Just to add, ill primarily be using float tackle

Short story short, went fishing at local ponds wiht flaot rod and quiver tip. Gopt some ncie fihs ont eh quiver, mst bites were puled as the fish moved away from me and so teh rod tip went round, however a couple of imes the tip snapped back. I knwo these are normally drop-back bites but what do i do? Do i strike immediatly or do i reel in till i feel teh fish ( If you can) and then strike? Also, as me being bit forgetful, i put my float rod down, thankfully in some hard reeds and the bait was in the water ( I didnt notice) but the drag was n full as i didnt think the bait was in the water but i noticed the rod almost being pulled in, gto to it first and it seems like the fish hooked itslef agaisnt the drag. Is that even possible as i didnt even have to strike and the fish was hooked. The fish arent that big, most between 2-8 Lb's ( From personal experience)

Hm Alright. I think i know what you mean. Id rather fish wish low breakign strain as feel more fun to fish and can feel teh fishes every move whcih i like. Saying thats what your refering to Dont want to break my rod, lasted me a year, want it to keep going.

Hi, I will stop asking questions at some time JUst quick one again, I have a rod ( My first one, Shakespeare Omni X Match Rod 12ft) and on it it says max reel line 6 pounds. What will happen if i addd/use a line wiht a higher breaking strain, say 12 pounds to go extreme? Will it break the rod or will it just nto cast of somethign? P.S this is my Float rod that i use, normally equipped wiht 4/6 pound line. Thanks in advance

Hey Basically, i plan to fishing this weekend on my local lakes. I plan on going to the bigger of the two whcih contains smaller and double figure carp upto 20 pounds. Im bringing the quiver and float rod but plan on float mostly. I have four pound line with my float rod. MY main question is what pound line would you recomend for float fishing? I dont target a particualr fish, i like all of them.
