  1. Sneaky ban circumvention idea. Use luncheon meat but allow it to 'marinade' in the gravy from the cat/dog food.
  2. I believe there are concerns over the long-tern environmental impact of all that meat & gravy going in. This has been reported before in AT, and I fear it will be seen on more waters.
  3. "Theresa Thoms? Upstairs flat Guv.
  4. IIRC day tickets for Sudbury Club waters are £4 per day. Not sure about LMAA but you could phone Norman Mealham (club sec?) at Stour Valley Tackle & Trophies in Sudbury and he'll put you straight. Number is 01787 377139.
  5. I can vouch for the AVG program, regular updates and all free and it catches the virii that hit you from within websites. Been using this for well over a year now.
  6. The back of Ladys Island has always done well, only drawback is no day ticket for this bit. If you can cast well then you can reach a great deal of this stretch from either Friars Meadow (free fishing for Sudbury residents) or Pecks Meadow (day ticket £4 IIRC ) The floodgates pool on Mill Meadows used to be my favourite - extremely deep water and beware of the debris on the bottom, at least one shopping trolley has gone in here not to mention several trees worth of big branches. Bloody kids.
  7. Much of the Stour from Long Melford through Sudbury is very badly weedy, silted up to hell and with restricted bank access for various reasons. It is hard work to find a workable swim but the rewards are great when you do.
  8. Caught a stonking perch today from a very slow running and weedy stretch of the Suffolk Stour, this thing must have been very close on 2lbs. Unhooked it while it was still in the landing net, and as I reached for my scales the b*gger flipped up to head height and PLOP, right back from whence it came Somehow a photo of an empty landing net doesn't do it justice......... 9. I was doing fine on the ol' moggy-meat. I'd have had a luncheon meat sarnie but I didn't fancy the green-lipped mussel flavouring
  10. Everything but the bread - I got hungry and scoffed it
  11. Never had need to until now (sob) but a new net set is top of the list.--
  12. All those baits and what a superb day I had. A spiffing tench within the first ten minutes, then regular crucians and mirrors throughout the day topped off by an estimated double figure carp for the first time.Never had one that overhung the landing net before.
  13. I'm estimating the weight as I dont have any scales but my first double came today. I caught my PB at 7 lbs about 2 weeks ago and todays mirror was easily half as big again, some 6 to 8 inches larger than the 18 inch diameter of my landing net. I'm hooked, no doubt about it.
  14. Oh, I forgot about the cans of hemp in my box, she didn't see those
  15. My wife was watching as I prepared my baits for tomorrow, and made the comment that did I really need to take so many different baits - maggots, bread, paste, corn, luncheon meat, worms and catfood. It got me thinking, when I used to fish before my last layoff I'd usually take two baits, an absolute max of three. Now I feel somewhat ill-prepared unless I have at least six baits to hopefully deal with all situations. Anyone else think that you can have too many baits?
