  4. Ive got a Bob James among my collection, very nice it is too, however did anyone notice that all the reels tested in IYCF got around 9/10. Having fished with some I think they need to re-score. But then if they upset the makers how do they get the free kit and backhanders.
  5. Ive got XTE`s and big pits, long casting I can't fault the big pits but for general use the XTE`s are great. XTE`s have the same layout as a GTE but better drag and no flex with a metal spool, don't think you will cast to the horizon, the 10000 rating is due to spool capacity not size, its deep but only a few mils bigger than a 6000 or 8000 spool. Will make a good reel for lighter rods and boating baits out but if you like the reels you have got only change if distance is a factor
  6. Go to a good quality camping shop, you will buy better than a tackle company copy and at half the price. I got one near identical to the Fox Royale but with a better frame and support system, all for £39.99
  7. Gilders fishing tackle, Northampton. The above shop is selling new quills.
  8. Thanks Paul, I`ll try it out on Monday and let you know.
  9. The maggot or caster methods work but i`m fed up with catching hundereds of silver bits to one barbel. Due to angling pressure and low stocks, after dark is the only real method on the stretch in question. Any more thoughts?
