  1. Roger, I have one, it would slip into freespool while fighting a carp, lost two carp that way and now its my spod reel, and, the alarm is not very loud, you couldnt visit nature very far from your reel! Oat
  2. Newt, sorry, but after having seen so many posts of Terry concerned over the care of carp I can not possibly imagine that he would loose more carp then he caught and would not have stopped realizing that he was using understrength tackle for the conditions. To hook so many carp and loose them one after another doesnt seem to be setting a good example of caring for the carps well being. Sorry but you cant claim to care for the carp while sending so many away with a hook and not having a fair chance of landing them. I hope Terry was having his hooks pull out or bending instead of snapping off, it doesnt say in the post, then it would be understandable and ok to keep trying to hook them on understrength tackle and my concern for the carps wellbeing wouuld be out of place. 3. Nightwing, our pike grew up and evolved into much bigger and meaner Muskies that eat ducks, turtles, pretty much anything they can catch Oat
  4. Newt, a young bull and an old bull come out of the barn and see a herd of heifers at the bottom of the hill. The young bull says lets run down there and knock one up. The old bull says to the young one, lets just walk down there slowly and knock them all up Oat
  5. Advanced Carp Fishing Techniques posted on FW, for those days when Nothing is biting and the other syndicate members are sitting in their bivvies crying, and you need the very best in tactics to land a BFC. Oatmeal Jack

  7. I have been toying with the idea of trying to absorb some of the vibration caused by casting long range rods to reduce the tip oscillations and therefore increase the range of long range casters. Bowmen over here have a rubber device called limbsavers that absord the vibrations caused while shooting a bow, if they were applied to a long ranger, plus a loose grip followthru to allow the limbsaver to work, do you guys think it could be beneficial? 8. PFM went so far as to suggest that someone with a chemistry degree might be able to create an aresol filled with the aroma of well done sirlion as a cow repellant Oat
  9. Spindle, we have a famous fishing author here in the states, Patrick F. McManus, he shares your love of cows. He has classified them into FMC (fast mean cows) and SMC (slow mean cows). He claims the SMCs spoil a good running field with their spoor to improve upon the chances that the FMC will intercept the fisherman before he gets over the fence. I recommend you read his story on cows, he gives a lot of tips on how to get away from them. Also, here is a story about mad cows that you might find interesting Mad Cows Oatmeal Jack
  10. MPB, we have you guys to blame for the WHOLE animal rights movement, it started right in your backyard by a misguided doctor Oat
  11. Good Idea Kbone, do those wipes get down into the wrinkles and cracks? Maybe a squirt bottle with 5% bleach would do better and getting into all the nooks and crannies?? When I need a mat I use a campers pad, its about $5 and will give two mats. Oat Instead of multiple mats Oatmeal carry a packet of antiseptic wipes, a quick wipe over the mat after it has ben used takes no time at all, what do you think. Catch you later. Ken.
  12. Phone, one question I have never seen asked is what about passing pathogens from one carp to another in the same lake on the same session? Say you are fishing a dark humid night, your unhooking mat isnt going to dry off and if you put carp after carp on it they are in essence exposed to whatever pathogen each of the proceding carp carried. So if one carp has the fungus and you put another one right on the mat while it is still wet the next carp gets a nice does of fungus. I dont know if that is carrying it too far, you would think most fish pathogens would be floating around in the water enough to infect every fish there anyway but you never know do you. Maybe what they need to do is have multiple unhooking mats so that one can dry out while they are catching another carp? If you really cared about the carp I think you would really have to consider multiple unhooking mats to keep from spreading pathogens from carp to carp in the same lake. Oatmeal Jack
  13. Nug, they cant swim but wanted to get off the island real bad so they learned What is a Tommy?? Is that a name for PB dancers??? Oatmeal Jack
  14. Sadly, the search for 4 missing UK carp anglers in the wilderness of the USA has been called off due to several large bears. For more details: Bear Paw Island Search for Missing UK Anglers Called Off Oatmeal Jack
  15. Nathan, there should be a ban on using any dog or cat meat anywhere or anytime. I thought you Brits loved your cats and dogs? Do you have to go so far to catch a carp to use cat and dog meat just to catch a fish? Try a piece of steak instead of a piece of dog meat next time. Make your dog look forward to going fishing as a friend, not as a potential walking bait. Wherever you guys get your dog and cat meat they should be shut down!! If its legal to have dog meat in the UK then I guess you all know whats in the curry everyone likes so much over there!! Oat
