  1. I would appreciate the phone numbers or addresses of the folling venues if anyone has them please. Woodlands.....scotter-gainsborough Willow lakes....Near newark-nottingham Thanks for the help
  2. Well just to confuse you more, i wouldnt even use boilies....try a more natural bait in winter, i had a blinding winter last year by doing this, also tried using prawns, very good..anyway if they are biting they'll take anything if not they wont eat nothing. have fun.
  3. My club secratary asked us all to compile a list of 10 fishing venues we want to fish in the coming years...now 5 must be on the river trent or local to nottingham/sheffield on a river, and 5 must be still water....just wondered if anyone has any suggestions, myself i dont mind where we go cos im gonna kick butt anyway. but your input will be much appreciated, Thanx
  4. I spent a couple of years just watching carp during the colder months, i tended to find that they go for the deeper water maybe because its not as likely to freeze or might be something to do with pressure, however my studies were at 1 particular pond and this may not be the same elsewhere. they definately dont move as much in winter so if u do find em keep em there cos i'll bet they wnt come back....anyway hope this helps if not u can shoot me ok?
  5. Next year, if some of you have read my previous post then you'll know that this last year i came 3rd in the fishing aggregate and next year i will be doing my utmost to go one or two better! i just wondered what you guys/gals were looking forward to? (hey the club isnt great but it dont half feel good to a nineteen yr old!...lol)first day on the river is a good one too.....see if they are still there....
  6. dont know if they make em, but my float rod is a good un, well its more of an allrounder but its the maver totallity one, wasnt that expensive either but it has a great through action.
  7. I personally just cut the cheese into lumps, as long as it doesnt sweat or dry up it should be fine to stick a size 6/8 through it.thats just me though.
  8. nah again i wasnt meaning i have new expensive tackle, it was expensive when i bought it but primarily it is just good tackle, not all my stuff is expensive but every piece is of great value, its good gear, i bought a second hand centrepin reel, and actually took it to pieces and fixed the clutch mechanism, the reel cost 20 pounds, but i wouldnt sell it for a hundred. anyway just hope i'd not upset anyone.
  9. i wasnt meaning to sound bigheaded, but i do think a lot of it is down to my dad, he is a good fisherman and obviously i picked up a lot from him, if i can oneday claim to be as good then i'll be quite content, but it seems like some of the club members have been fishing 20 years, watching all the videos etc and still not won a match, i dunno whatever im doing right i hope to continue doing that way. i put a lot down to takle too though, i try to buy the best i can, and i'd rather wait till i can afford the better stuff than buy cheap and it not be as good, dont get me wrong though there is some good reasonably priced takle out there, i saw something about okuma reels? anyway i never wrote this much in school essays so i'll stop now, cheers for the input.
  10. im only 19 years old but have been fishing for a number of years, my dad is the current fishing aggregate winner and this year i came 3rd overall, impressive for its only my 2nd yr match fishing and a massive improvement on last year, however after a flying start i won 1st match came 2nd in the second and then 4th on the next 2, the question i have is this: Is fishing inbred, a natural talent that is passed on through genes, or is it something anyone can be good at? i know everyone can improve but it seems that me and my father are naturals and others have no luck at all....just a tester for u all...have fun
  11. We recently had a match on the trent, although it ws only won with about 6lb noone had a fish over about 2oz great fun allday, mostly gudgeon which makes a change but it was better than sticking out for the big one.
