  1. Dispatching flatfish by placing them in fresh water isnt really a good option, it is well documented that flatties, particually dabs and flounder can survive for long periods in reduced salinity environments like esturies. The quickest way is without doubt that previously mentioned, insert a knife just behind the gill covers and sever the spinal column, its over in seconds.
  2. Hi Elton as Sand Tiger says thanks for making an effort on our behalf. Dont let sarcastic comments like "shame its not being used" put you off your usual selfless course on this forum, WE DO appreciate the efforts [ 16. December 2002, 09:46 PM: Message edited by: mike edelvyz ]
  3. Ok, I've had time to digest this thread, a few facts, The adverage thread on this forum is less than 15 replies we now equal 44 of davey holts "ok what do you think" the majority of the replies made by former TSF forum users have been generated by alans attack on a new poster, of over 3000 members very few use the sea angling forum on this site, is it possible that the resident regulars could possibly be putting them off with the " you will do as I ask attitude?" I am a member of several forums to which I am proud of, one of which is owned by ELTON, In my years on the net I have contributed to several angling based forum based charities in the aid of good causes this is without any doubt the first time my motives have been questioned for being part of a forum and the first time I have been told I will leave without doing anything for its benefit. My question is simple, why should any individual weither a "old member" or a new one have the right to question a persons motive and presence on a forum when the whole point of forums is having the ability of personal option to join in or not?"
  4. 13 foot rods of any type tend to be harder to cast due to the increased leaverage required to gain tip speed and distance, if your used to the 12 foot length stick with it till you gain a good technique then borrow a longer rod from a mate to try before you go spending your cash on something which may be too long for you to handle. Having said that I pendulum cast with a 13 1/2 foot ABU Xl-ence now having progressed up from the ABU Sirius 12'.
  5. I tried the PVA string and bag route a few years back and found that the juices of practically every bait we use beach casting disolves the bag / string before you get to cast it, a long streamlined bait like a string of lug on a pennel rig will give you better distances than say a whole squid with head. 6. Hi Alan, sorry if you feel that the presence of an individual on this board offends you, I beleived that i was contributing to the board by being here. If asked a constructive question I will give a constructive answer. As it is this thread was started by myself to inform the straglers within the former group where the rest of them had gone to, supplying information in a constructive manner to the sea anglers it concerns. As for "buggering off" that is a personal decision that will be based on the conversations and the people I come in contact with on this site as to weither I decide to stay on here as well. I take the web experience seriously but also have a sense of humour that goes beyond the web experience into reality, I do not take my frustrations out on here and certainly do not post when i have been subject to pleasures of the local hostelry. If you find my presence here offensive that is your choice as it is not an intention of mine to be offensive.
  7. Hi Alan, As Davey explained we of the TSFSC found ourselves with a predicament on our hands, our beloved site ( one which received over 2 million hits per month) closed down for reasons I will not go into, which left the happy bunch of "frequenters" floating around hyperspace without a home to come to. We have between us found temparary accommodation in this site and in the Anglingforums co site till the reurn of our home to us, which we are assured to learn will be in the near future. We are as a group greatful to the hosts of the sites that we have decended upon for giving us a home in our hour of loss and some have mentioned the possiblity of dual nationality and asylam (or words to the effect spelt correctly) when the home site reopens. Till such time I hope you will tolerate the quiet intrusion into your back yard, as we are humble souls really
