  1. There's been the odd one caught on the Ouse but not enough to target, I used to fish for them at Aldwalk bridge years ago near Tollerton you could bag up on them big time!!!!!!!!!!!

    Dordogne

Thanks lads, keep em coming! taking note the river looks fantastic in the photos, I tend to fish from 5pm onwards when in France (do the famliy things during the day) so it sounds perfect if I can locate a clearing on the bank.

    Dordogne

Hi all, has anyone been to the Dordogne in France! i'm off this year for the Barbel would like to hear from anyone on the suject, cheers
  4. Ring J T Rogers on 01132641195 and leave your name and number ask them to pass it on to Paul (he runs the junior matches) I`ve already spoken to him. Don`t forget to mention when you ring the shop that you want to fish junior matches!
  5. Anyone been to Sand Le Mere on the east coast near Hull?
  6. Keep it under your hat bait, and when you do find out what they use (just when you bought a seasons supply) they ban it!

    Spraying!!!

I Used this method 4 years ago in a 3 hour match and broke the lake record with 239lb 12oz I was spraying casters (4 pints) and using small cubes of meat on the hook, laying the pole on the water and fishing at 14m. I now fish at Raker lakes to the far bank on Horse Shoe lake with the same method but using a float set at 18" deep to bag up
  8. Dave Harrel line sink in a can combined with MAXIMA line, spray this on your spool before fishing it should last most of the day. As soon as your float hits the water stop the line on your reel with your finger and plunge your rod tip into the water (this on it`s own sinks a fair bit of line) then flick the rod tip upwards this should do the trick!
  9. Hi Dave, The only bans are bloodworm, joker and barbed hooks. keepnets are supplied and you must dip your landing net. Make sure you bring your waggler and bomd rod, I fish with 3lb main line on both and a high tech hook lengh of 4lb plus. A good tip is to fish a crust on the bomb tight to the far bank (whithin 12") if possible, take a few with you in case of any mishaps. P.S crystal carp wagglers of about 2 swan shot are perfect for reaching the far bank on float, (make sure your line sinks)
  10. Hi Dave, I think your are on the Horse Shoe (if your club is the Starr Inn) It`s 17 to 21 meters to the far bank and if you want to catch a good bag of carp that`s where you need to be! we all tend to fish with the floating pole with meat, corn and bread as hook bait, if you don`t have a pole that long take a couple of carp wagglers or bomb rod to reach. It`s about 24" deep on most pegs tight to the far bank. If your going to fish bread the flake works best fished just under the surface but you can also catch on floating crust. There are plenty of roach to be had on caster fishing shallow at 9 meters or so but you need to feed very often to get them up in the water pegs 5,9,11,23,25,28,29,fish ok close in but you have to be very carefull when putting your keepnet in don`t just throw it out or you will ruin your chance of catching. The top pegs are 1,6,7,11,14,15,16,18,19,21,22,30 good luck and let me know how you get on
  11. Hi dave, I run all the open matches at Raker, we fished the last one last week (I was 5th with 34lb) if you let me know the lake your fishing I will fill you in on the methods etc.
  12. I used it on a few occasions but I don`t think it works any better than any other product! Try some TEE TREE OIL this works great mixed with paste but don`t over do it just a couple of drops in your mix

    lead shot

Just get a knife out of your kitchen drawer, put one of the shot on the chopping board and try to cut it, if it`s lead it will cut quite easily and will be shiny inside
  14. Des Taylor is a pain in the backside I`m sure his mouth has something to do with the Seven bore!
  15. I used to fish it years ago. (I live on the banks of the river now) The only place you will catch a good head of Chub and Barbel is below the weir at Stamford Bridge, there is another weir at Howsham but you only tend to get the odd Chub below this one.
