  1. Gaffer, What braid would you recomend without the coating, most of the time I just take the plastic coating off and it seems to be a bit of a waste of time to do this when I could buy the braid on its own. I use alot of PVA bags. Cheers Jon

    Florida Tarpon

I realise this is in the Course Forum, but I thought more people would see it here and therefor it would hopefully get a better response. Cheers Jon
  3. I am going to Florida in April/May for a month and am hoping to go Tarpon Fishing. I have never fished for them before but have been told this is the right time of year for them. Any advice or resource areas would be very much appreciated. I will be staying on clearwater beach so would be hoping for somewhere local to fish for them. Cheers Jon P.S. I am intersted in all types of fishing while there so if anyone has any recomendations or ideas then please let me know.
  4. Newt, Once again, Thankyou!! From your description I would guess large mouth bass. The nests are in the open water near the edge and usually have one or two fish present. What methods would you recomend trying for these fish as the lake is never fished and seems to have alot in it? Cheers Jon [ 18. March 2003, 09:59 AM: Message edited by: JMW ]
  5. Newt, Thanks again for your help! I will check the links out! The nests are different to the picture you showed, they are in the shallows of the water and look like bowls in the mud in about 1ft of water. They are about 2ft across and there are loads of them. I will chat to some of the locals when I am there. Cheers Jon
  6. Gaffer/Elton, Cheers Guys, very helpfull as usual! Jon
  7. Could someone tell me what the difference is between the two and which if any is better? Cheers Jon
  8. Newt, Thanks for that, I didnt realise that you had made such an effort!! It is very much appreciated!!! My uncle lives in Florida and owns a country club on a golf course (East Bay Country Club). It has a couple of lakes present and I have seen alot of fish that look like carp (in the water), although I havnt been for a couple of years and did not fish for carp that much then. They have what look like nests in the shallows of the lake, they are mud holes the shape of a bird nest. Do you have any idea what these fish might be and or what fish are likly to be in such a lake, if I had to guess I would say that the lake is at least 20 years old, probably nearer 40 years old. thanks again for all your help. Cheers Jon P.S. The fish mentioned where probably between 2-10lbs.
  9. Bob, I couldnt send an email to the address you gave me, is it right or am I just a Muppet!! Cheers Jon

    Worms

I have not used worms for carp fishing yet and was thinking of giving it a go this year. What is the best way to rig them? On a hair or direct to the hook? Cheers jon
  18. I am thinking of getting a JRC Defender 3 Leg Bedchair as there is a sale on for £70. Has anyone used this bedchair or know of another one for similar money that is better. Would it be worth spending more or is this good enough? Cheers Jon
  19. Cheers for that!! I will give it a go this week Jon
  20. I was about to start a similar thread to this when I spotted this thread. When you put the bread in the blender, do you add water? If so how much? I dont have a bread punch, could you recomend one or should I just pinch some off with my fingers and squeeze it on the hook? Cheers Jon
