  1. Hi Elton, You won't get rich on that one, only about 14years since that one was published. Just looked in after a long time, good to see a lot of the the old names still here, mind I wouldn't dare call Lyn old, budgie maybe . Congratulations on the 10th anniversary and still going strong. Keith
  2. See you've still got a sense of humour then Lyn Good to see so many old faces still on here, well done Elton. Keith
  3. Congratulations Elton, Well done, remember the birth well from when I was in sunnier climes. A few small labour pains at the start but the child that came forth has certainly grown in to a cracker. Here's to the next 5 Keith
  4. Hi Countryman, Brings back memories, used to live at Billinghay out on the fenn. You have some great waters all within easy reach, Witham, Gade, Trader etc. Also some good clubs all within easy reach, Horncastle, Mark one at sleaford, Boston just to mention a few. the small drains round Billinghay all produce good fish as does the small pit below the poultry farm, cracking Tench water. Best advice is to pop along and see my old mate John Thornley at Riverside Tackle on the banks of the Witham at Tattershal Bridge, mention my name and he may throw you out, if he does let me know and I'll blackmail him with some info from us fishing in Ireland or on the Severn together. If you want any further info mail me. Keith Truscott
  5. Hi Lee, Up your way tommorow at Trent Bridge with the missus to watch the cricket. Don't recall anybody saying you couldn't join, unless it's self inflicted exile for effect. Pleased to see the old pencil is still as sharp as ever. Keith
  6. Poledark, Would you believe it was a massive 14lb 3oz, that's a monster by anybody's standards, especialy for the Throop. Once again well done that girl. Keith
  7. Just to let you all know that Lyn has been trying for years to catch a double figure Barbel, well today she paid a visit to Throop and not only did she get a double but she smashed the double figure by a mile. I'll leave her to give you the details when she eventualy gets home from cloud nine. Well done Lyn on the fish of a life time, you deserved it. Keith
  8. Cheers Poledark, Been around a long time just don't post a lot these days, just look occasionaly. Keith
  9. Newt, please don't lock it yet it's just getting interesting and I haven't even got invloved yet. Knowing both Lee and Alan personaly I find some of the points raised interesting and poigant. As a member of both the RSSG and SAA I also find the criticism of both organisations PR justified for different reasons. The SAA for the size of the organisation, membership and the brains/knowledge at it's disposal, should be doing a better job, but then again it would seem they are fully aware of that and are striving to improve it. The RSSG is totally devoid of PR and information to it's membership or potential membership and to the unitiated or uninformed would appear to be going knowhwere and in that respect Alan's comments as to Lee's agenda could appear justified. If the RSSG is to reach the vision first envisaged and to wield the power and influence it requires to fill the void that it was originally considered existed, then it needs publicity and communication to encompass all branches of our wonderfull sport, but most of all it needs members who understand it's true aims. I apreciate that a small committee can not fulfill all areas of need , but what has been done to ask the membership for help and advice. I agree with Newt that personal comments and any abuse have no place on this board, nor does hanging out The SAA dirty washing or committee differences these should be confined to the meeting rooms, telephones, mail or e-mail. Re: the original intention of this subject "call to arms" and the CA. I am not a member of the CA but after seeing all the collective wrangling and politics that have gone on within angling over the last few years I have a good mind to join. We may not all agree with all the principles and sections it fights for but at least it has more organisation and collective ability than anything i've seen from the various angling assc. I also fail to see how anybody can not class angling within the collective body of countryside sports. WE hunt, we may console ourselves with the fact that we return them, but at the end of the day fishing fulfills the inbuilt hunting instinct within the majority of us. I for one would march and stand up for the right for the individual to pursue his or her chosen pursuit that has gone on for as long as history has been recorded. What right does somebody that does not even want to do it tell me I can't. Angling apathy and complacency never ceases to amaze me. Unless we all wake up and take a collective stance Hunting and handguns will just be the thin edge of the wedge, or do we just sit back and watch all of our rights be eroded one by one without lifting a finger in defience. 10. Answer, My priciples and opinions regarding open democracy are well known Mike. I like democracy and will defend its continuence to the hilt. Because without it, dictatorships rule. And I will NOT join any angling organisation that is not democratically run. What was it that Joseph Stallin once said? Ah yes. "Dictators corrupt. And total dictatorships corrupt, absolutely". Regards, b Lee.[/QB] Hi Lee, So are most democracies corrupt it is just what degree of corruption. Wherever you have humans you will have some degree of corruption. Communism is probably in principle the best system ever invented, but will never work as has been proved due to human nature. There has been a lot of talk of benevolent dictatorships. But isn't this the case in most organisations even when you have an elected committee because during the term of office they make the decisions for the membership, otherwise it would be impractical to run if you had to hold a referendum or call a membership meeting. Also most club constitutions allow for the committee to co-opt members on to the committee as required without a vote from the membership. Not being funny but did you not yourself a short while ago decide through lack of response to disband the RSSG. Was this a democratic decision by the members that you did have at that time on a vitally important decision?? Luckily subsequent events have proved that the hard work put in by you, Ray, Ian and others was not wasted and the RSSG has nearly reached fruition. I use this as an example that there are allways two sides to a coin dependenton hoe people decipher them. Keith
