  1. Thanks for the advice people,I will be mostly using it on commercials should have said that in my original post. Cheers Trev
  2. Im looking to buy a new pole,I realy dont want to go any shorter than 13m and it should be capable of tackling the odd decent carp as well BUT im on a strict budget of £250 maybe £300 if I talk to my beloved realy nicely.Ive had a look thru some of the mags that are about and there just seems to be loads of them, ive also had a chat with a couple of my local tackle shops and to be honest most of them didnt want to know unless I would spend over £400 and its just not possible for me to spend that much.A couple of mail order places will do me a MAP 16m pole for around the £250 mark are these any good ? or should I look at the shorter ones such as the middy works battle zone which looks a good buy on paper ? Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers all, Trev

  4. These people dont care who they hurt they only care about putting there views across because they are allways right in there own eyes and sod everyone else and yet they allways bang on about freedom of speach and democrasey but you try arguying your point with em they soon get abusive and wont let you finish  Trev
  5. Anyone going to the above then im thinking of going and wondered if its any good. Trev
  6. Well i would have put a picture of my first ever carp on BUT the piggin batterys on me digi camera were low so it didnt take the picture  Thats modern technology for you (or you could blame the idiot behind the camera for not checking the batterys first ) Trev
  7. Has anyone else read the bit in the angling mail about the w*****s who thought it was funny to "help" an boy out by not putting a hook on his line with the bait now as the author says thats not the way to encourage the young into the sport personally i think the people should be banned from the place they were fishing if it was private fisheries what a selfish way to behave. Trev
  8. Got me first ever carp yesterday not massive just over 4lb but most enjoyable all the same. Trev

  11. Thanks mate glad im not the only one who feels a pratt in some of the tackle shops . Iwent in to one shop friday and when the bloke realised i was just sterting out fishing and wasent going to spend hundreds on tackle there and then moaned about amatuers not knowing anything or what they needed and left me to it and served someone else now that does make you feel a pratt but in the end its his loss i will trade with someone else so its his loss isnt it . Trev
  12. Thanks for all the advice everyone,i think for now i will stick to me rod and float and see how i get on then see about pole fishing later if i fancy it. Trev
  13. As said before once the antis have got what they want with the fox hunters THEY WILL move on to there next victims wether it be shooters anglers or who ever these type of people just arnt happy unless they are disruting some ones hobby/sport. The point is that instead of just waiting untill its our turn to be got at we should be acting now to protect our choosen dicipline not backstabbing at each others sports stick together with one united voice then you can make yourselves heard, its the only way politicians will listen if they think they will lose thousands or millions of voters support then they listen. Anglers if they stick together have a massive voice that should be used to the best effect possible. That feels better Trev
  14. Now this might sound a stupid question but if you dont ask you dont know, ive allways fished with a rod and as ive recently returned to fishing i find that the pole has made a big impact on the sport now what i want to know is are poles better than rods i see alot of people use them for carp would i be better buying a pole instead of a rod? or do you need both? Is pole fishing easyer than rods,i know this sounds amaturish to ask but ive never used a pole so i realy dont know what they are like and i realy would feel a pratt asking about this sort of gear in a tackle shop its bad enough going in and starting from scratch with rods im sure they think im thick cos i realy am out of touch. Thanks Trev
  15. Nice one mate sounds like you had a good day Trev
  16. Right im off carp fishing for the first time next weekend so i need to get a rod does anyone have any advice as to what is a good reasonable priced rod to buy, also im told i should also get a bite alarm as well is this the case? Thanks Trev
  17. Well if you think that all the antis will stop when they get there way with fox hunting im afraid your soooooooooo wrong they will just move on to a new topic either shooting or angling probly both now im both a keen shooter and angler and if all of us dont pull together and fight these people then we will lose what we enjoy in life our choosen sport or sports, remember alot of anti dont even bother to look into what there objecting to they just dont like it and wont listen to any view but there own often blinkered views. Oh yeh and NEVER trust a politician all there interested in is votes and power. There thats my rant over with Trev
