  1. I can only concur with you guys, what an amazing day out I managed to catch quit a few Grayling up to 2.5Ib, a clonking Seat Trout, some very nice Brownies and a 4Ib Chub However, the highlight of the day was when my wife, Faye, hooked into what at first seemed to be the River Itchen version of Nessie. She felt she had no chance of landing it so I took over the rod, and after a 15-minute heart stopping battle was able to land an absolute stunning looking, fin perfect 17.5Ib superbly fit river pike. This pike was hooked (hooked in it's lip, by the way) on a no 14 Kamasan hook baited with two maggots, attached to a 0.14mm /4Ib Middy fluorocrystal hook link using a 13’light float rod fitted with a ABU 507. A special thanks goes to Andy (Jigotai) for taking the time running down to his car to pick up his carp net (my 20” match style net was not exactly up for the task) allowing us to actually land the fish, and for supplying the scales used to weigh it.
  2. Trevor Salmon has now listed some of Gerry's tackle on ebay, and there will be more to follow. Search for items with "argyll" in the title (under sporting goods) or look at Trev's items for sale - his ebay id is: deepinvader All proceeds will go to Gerry's estate and ultimately his father.
  3. It was not the best speech I've heard, but saying that the vicar was very respectful, kind, understanding and comforting towards Jeremiah (Gerry’s dad) from the minute he meet her for the first time. Jeremiah was very happy with her, and to be honest that's all that counts
  4. For anyone wanting to pay Gerry their last respect by attending his funeral here is a quick reminder of the details: Tuesday 02/01/07 at 15.30 in the afternoon West Norwood Crematorium Norwood Road West Norwood SE27 9JU Details of the crematorium and on how to get there by public transport can be found in the attached link. West Norwood Crematorium
  5. Guy's, If any of you want to organise a floral tribute for Gerry's funeral it can easily be done through Floral Hall, which is situated less than 50 yards from the Funeral Directors. All you need to do is to give them a call on 0208 670 3200, order the flower arrangement' and ask them to deliver to Yeatman & Sons by 12.30 to 13.00 on the day of the funeral. Please, mention Gerry's full name, which is Gerald Castles, to the people at Floral Hall. Have a great Christmas Regards Vidar

  7. I know Gerry was very respected and had a lot of friends on Anglers Net, and its therfore with a very sad heart I'm letting you all know that Gerry passed away this afternoon at King Hospital in London. My thoughts is with his family & friends. Vidar Thomassen
  8. Please, add me and my wife to the list
  9. The Lure Shack Don't get too much hung up in colours, but if you want a few different options a dark, a light and a brightly coloured version will do
  10. If you don’t want to invest in a heavyish jerkbait / multiplier outfit very few lures matches the flexibility and all year fish catching abilities of a Spring Dawg, 6” Replicant or a spinnerbait. All, which are lures that can be fished slow, fast, shallow or deep. Yes, a Big S will catch you a few pike, but a relatively shallow diving plug it’s hardly the best choice going into the depths of winter.
  11. St Croix Legend Tournament TBC70MHF is sold
  12. Would probably have been a tad helpful if I had been capable of spelling lures correctly
  13. I have some absolutely 100% mint lure for sale. In fact, neither of the lures has ever seen water. All prices include shipping, and if you buy more than one I’ll give you a discount. If you want to see pictures send me an pm, and I'll e-mail you some :) Andre Koehoorn’s Punnisher – Orange Trout: £15.00 incl. shipping Many big manufacturers have tried to copy this unique handmade Dutch jerkbait, but still there is only one original. Suspending AK Punnisher can be fished both medium deep or shallow. For deeper fishing use a tight line and make soft pulls with the rod tip. For shallow fishing, use short distinct jerks. Weight: 90 gr. Length: 160 mm.
  14. Please, excuse my ignorance here, but is the ABU 1044 just a later version of the 506 or are there any major technical differences. Thanks in advance
  15. I had a great day out, and it was nice to see a few familiar faces again I ended up with a 6 trout, two roach, numerous minnows, but no grayling Oh well, there is always next time
  16. Nice grayling caught by my wife, on Timsbury, this Saturday From me too Vidar
  17. Guy's, I need your help here Which breaking strain PowerPro should I go for when feeder fishing for Bream & Tench? I'm considering using 10Ib, (0.15mm diameter) but just to make sure I don't get it wrong I'm hoping for some input from the experts
  18. As my wife never got her head around fishing with baitcasters and therefore converted to spinning rods I’ve ended up with a few rod duplicates, which I now would like to sell off Take this unique opportunity of getting your hands on some of the best and most sensitive baitcasting rods money can buy. St Croix Legend Tournament TBC70MF Fast Action, Lure weight: 1/4 - 5/8oz This rod has been used a couple of times, but is in 100% mint condition £98.00 incl. shipping to anywhere on the UK mainland The St Croix TBC70MF with its extreme sensitivity is a superior rod for fishing soft plastics & jigs, but feels equally at home in conjunction with spinnerbaits and Rattle trap style lures. I’ve successfully landed pike to 13Ib on my personal TBC70MF rod. The TBC70MHF is a cracking rod for searching waters with spinnerbaits, vibration baits, smallish swimbaits & crankbaits, and has the backbone to land pike to well over 20Ib if required. St Croix’s Legend Tournament series are not available in the UK and can only be acquired by importing them from USA or other suitable outlets. If you have any interest in the remaining rod or want additional information, please, don’t hesitate to pm me.
