Does anybody know of a good website or anything that could show me how to take apart and tune-up an Abu 7000 multiplier. I bought it second-hand but it's behaving a bit oddly and I don't want to take it apart without knowing how to put it back together again. Any books or magazines available maybe? Cheers

In regards to boat fishing, surely there must be a way to measure the weight of big fish with some degree of accuracy whilst still on the boat. Do they really need to be kept and dragged all the way back to port just to weigh them? I get more satisfaction from seeing big fish swim away healthily than from chopping them up and stuffing them in the freezer for 3 months.

What's the accepted rules for keeping undersize fish for bait? I usually put back anything small but see other anglers keeping and killing absolutely everything no matter what the species and slicing them up for bait and then just dumping anything left over. What can you say to people like that without getting a smack in the face?

When I was young, my first experience with fishing was from the local pier. My son's first experience with fishing was from the local pier. Even today many young kids first experience of fishing is from the local pier. Nuff said.

If Coarse anglers had to watch trawler boats going up and down the rivers and lakes netting out all the big carp and tench then they might be a little more reticent to hand over their licence money before settling down to catch the leftovers. Sea Anglers contribute millions and millions of pounds to the UK economy - I'd be willing to contribute a little more in licence fees if our interests were given as much prominence as the commercial industry.

Chesil Beach has loads of cod! Although they're usually caught from the immediate left or right of wherever I'm fishing. I've seen them up to 8 or 9lbs but have heard reports of 13lb and more. Ring Weymouth Angling Centre for info.

I've used a 2.5lb carp rod for a lot of shore fishing. It's great for flounder fishing with a 2lb lead, feathering for mackerel and spinning for small bass and pollock from rock marks. I've even used it when boat fishing for plaice from sandbanks.

Absolutely! In and around Poole Harbour and the whole Purbeck coastline to the west as far as Weymouth and Chesil beach. There's not much that you can't catch in that area.

Does anybody know what the fishing is like on the southern side of Brittany (around the corner!) I'm going down there next summer. Do you need a licence, what fish are there and what baits etc. Are there any good web sites or books?
