  1. Hey Graham - like the sound of the mullett bashing! Where do you go mate and what tactics do you use? I've seen big shoals of mullett cruising up the River Avon on the Royalty fishery in Christchurch. Everyone (me included to begin with) thought they were chub. They wouldn't take anything....Any tips and locations gratefully received....

  4. Yep - day ticket fisheries in the area are fine. Try Broadlands (off the M27 outside Southampton). 3 lakes - £8 per day to fish. Tiddler bashing with maggot, pellet, etc. There are monster carp in there in the biggest of the three lakes as well. A medium sized match lake has carp to about 15lbs plus big tench, bream, roach etc. Small lake is like a doughnut (ideal for pole fishing) but has loads of fish in it (I've caught a 6lb bream from in there). Something for everyone and lovely on a nice day. Fish waggler, method feeder or normal feeder anywhere. Also try NBK in Petersfield.

    Le Carp

Greetings all. Returned from hols in France at the weekend. Had a day's fishing while out there - really awesome. Nice little fishery owned by an English fella and run with his missus. Good for families - not serious carpies. Very relaxed with no bivvies!!! Two nice carp - both doubles, both off the top using floating crust. The first - a mirror of around 15lb - slurped down half a baggette six feet from the bank and I saw the whole thing! Heart-stopping stuff. Le Carp Francais fight like hell.......Ah well...back at work now.....
  6. Sounds like an awesome (or should that be ...oarsome...!!!!) way to fish...
  7. http://www.anglersafloat.co.uk Have a look at the links to the US site as well...surely it's only a matter of time before it's happening on your local carp puddle!!
  8. Anglers who think they are superior to those who are not fishing the same method as them. Example: Matchmen who frown (and swear) at pleasure anglers.....no need!!!
  9. I was staring at a container full of bright yellow/orange pilau rice the other day from takeaway left-overs wondering whether it would be any use as bait. It's got that spicy aroma etc and has an oily quality to leak flavours. How about PVA bag full of pilau with a hair-rigged onion bhaji on the hook?
  10. Well - there's a curiosity element to indoor fishing. Might be a laugh - who knows!
  11. Fenboy, you are simply trying to rattle people's cages to get a reaction. As long as you are are aware of the responsibility you have to other anglers and the environment, it doesn't matter how or where you fish. There are many ways to fish - don't knock 'em until you've tried 'em.
  12. Thanks Wootton. Hopefully when we get there I'll fire up the barbecue then.........
  13. Off to the land of the frog next week. Heading off to Avranches which is right on the River See. Anyone fished down there? Apparently there are salmon and sea trout to be had - which would be nice. Just wondering if anyone has any tips...?????
  14. I'd freeline a piece of bacon grill under the fallen tree.....
  15. Keane - Somewhere Only We Know I walked across an empty land I knew the pathway like the back of my hand I felt the earth beneath my feet Sat by the river and it made me complete Oh simple thing where have you gone I'm getting old and I need something to rely on So tell me when you're gonna let me in I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin I came across a fallen tree I felt the branches of it looking at me Is this the place we used to love? Is this the place that I've been dreaming of? Oh simple thing where have you gone I'm getting old and I need something to rely on So tell me when you're gonna let me in I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin And if you have a minute why don't we go Talk about it somewhere only we know? This could be the end of everything So why don't we go Somewhere only we know? in the eye!

Eels are a nightmare. Total nightmare!! Caught one on the Itchen last week that was like a python. It swallowed an inch piece of bacon grill intended for chub straight down. There was no way on earth I'd have got the hook out so had no alternative but to cut the line.
  17. Maggot and Worm. It has to be maggot and worm. You may get dragged in! Waggler would be my way forward.....
  18. Hi Newt That was a great write-up. Never heard of that sire before though. Wonder where they sourced their information - any ideas??
  19. Agreed. I saw two of those carp under the bridge at the top end of the bend by the industrial estate (the bit where it says ''No Fishing'' ). One definitely a double and the other not far off. I'm sure there's some cracking sport in the Woodmill stetch as well but I've only fished in once so far...and all I caught was a monstrous bloody great eel which was like a python!!!!!!!
  20. http://www.nfaresults.co.uk/index.php Here's the official site. Not a word. Little wonder the 'media' didn't report it if angling's own governing body has kept it a secret......Last update on their site was February 24th 2004 - a lot of water under a lot of bridges since then.
  21. Unless people that run these events contribute stuff, it won't get on anywhere.
  22. Don't always bash the media. Events will only get publicity if the media are told about them in advance by the people organising them.....
  23. Nice one England....did the Greeks have a team in it? Pleased for Will Raison. Fished at Gold Valley with my kids a few weeks ago and he's a nice fella - very helpful - obviously knows his stuff and seemed happy to pass on tips.
  24. Hi Darrell I've seen the piccies of the Itchen barbel. (More than one in fact!!) Looks like they were taken a couple of years ago though. Caught from the very same swim where I got my chub last week. I had hoped for a barbel but speaking to a few guys fishing at Woodmill, they seemed to think there are no barbel any more. When those were caught, everyone went down to try and catch them and it was thrashed into oblivion!! I must admit, don't understand why there aren't more - the river looked like barbel heaven to me. Gravel bottom, good flow, lots of cover etc.
