  1. Ian, if he was asking for specific marks or GPS numbers then i can see your point but general information ??? as far as i know my Mum still keeps in contact with Jan but she is no longer with John. I'll tell her you asked after her, that'l surprise her as i said it was definately a porbeagle, apart from the fact that sharks in general have been a interest of mine from a very early age, I have seen both at very close range before this incident. ( never a porgie that close to shore though)Sad to hear of the baskers demise up your way, i thought they were still going strong up there we occasionally see them around the back of the Isle of Wight, but again not in the same numbers as 25/30 yrs ago. Apologies if I seem to have come on a bit strong over this, strange what a lack of nicotine does to you
  2. Ian, mothers name is Jenny, she worked at the ship when Jan and John had it 98/99. Bit of a big lady definately a porgie not a basker and emails were sent in the winter when we were planning the next trip up, not summer. the hours you work are all part and parcel of running a business as a lot on here will know, just can't get me haed around the fact that you find it "cheeky" that people ask for advice.I've always found that it actually improves my business. P.S if your ever down in sunny Sussex i got no problem with putting you onto double figure smoothound, tope from the shore, or some of the best Bass fishing on the south coast. happy hunting
  3. " wasn't a member of AN then" strange how he's got 4 posts under his name before the start of this thread. i'd be lucky to get just 30 calls a month asking for advice on my trade, cheeky? i'd call it being polite and helpful meself
  4. dutchie , east tarbet is a few miles to the south of drummore Jaffa, got nothing against anybody doing any sort of work for SACN or any other sort of voluntary conservation work, good on em, but you dont expect to get paid. Do you ?
  5. Ian B, maybe if you answered a few emails youd get a bit more business, I mailed you several times a couple years ago regarding the viability of getting a porgie from the shore at East Tarbet, nothing to do with boat angling, ( atfer having one cruise up and down in front of me no more than 30 yrds out) guess what, no reply to any of them. Having spoken to you several times when my mother worked at the ship i got the impression that you were an OK sort of bloke, never was a very good judge of character though. we still come up to Drummore at least once a year for a week, a week that we would have probably booked one of your boats for, guess what, we now trailer our own boat all the way up from Sussex. being self employed too i fully understand that we all have to put food on the table but with an attitude like that i,m surprised your still in business. still trying for that Porgie
  6. Bognor will be mainly schoolies, pout, eels and flatties. Pagham just to the west will be pretty much the same with a chance of some good black bream and maybe an early hound or two. Selsey starts to come into its own in may especially if the spiders start to peel but you need good settled weather. Some big bass to be had at the Bill on big crab baits and black bream to 3-4 lb on squid. Probably more chance of a smoothound at west beach, they seem to get here earlier each year. If the weather has been calm and settled for a while you could try Climping to the East for the chance of stingray. More likely towards the end of the month though. tackle wise, a decent beach rod and a bass/flattie rod will see you ok. happy fishing
  7. cheers Chris, sounds good. the best bit about it from my point of view is i get usage of the boat for a share of the mooring costs
  8. a mate of mine has just bought a Quicksilver 620, looks the biz with all the electronics etc, just wondered if anyone has got/had one, what their like and how they handle and all that.
  9. 10 hours on the beach for 1 dog 2 pout and 1 poor cod, pretty damn poor really between three rods.
