  1. I know about Hardy rod's but not boat's what's it like. Do you have a picture? I have a 90 HP Susuki 4 stroke attached whitch runs on petrol and LPG that'saves me a euro a litre! But it cost me about 10% of power but it still runs a good 27 knot's but it is only possible when it's flat calm. What is not good about the raider? Regards Jan
  2. Hi there We do a lot of fishing till 30 miles of IJmuiden the ony thing we catch is (a lot of) cod to about 8 lbs and sometimes a little bigger. Point is we don't have a lot of species to fish for apart of cod , bass and the odd small pollack. So I went on holyday fishing in Ireland and Scotland for shark and skate with me own boat. I have an Orka 535s a Dutch made boat but I fancy a sea raider 18 like you have. So can you tell me how fast it went on a sea like that? And how much fuel it uses? Cheers Dutchie
  3. Pike 121cm Zander 81cm Perch 52cm(!) Carp 86cm (28Lbs) This was in Holland Blue shark 192cm Pollock 79cm Tope 140cm Conger 150cm In Ireland And I hope to catch a big skate and a porbeagle and a... Wake up !
  4. Pirks small pirks storm shads rubber worms and so on. But if they aren't there they aren't there!
  5. Hi there Alan I think I have the wrong numbers because the only thing I catch is two or three pound codling near Den Helder so no pictures here.
  6. Where is east Tarbet? I was fishing from the rocks near Killkee Ireland where everybody was reeling in strings of mackerel up the rocks. Once in a while they where dropping 60 feet down creating some kind of a trail. So I wasn't surprised that somebody reeled in half a mackerel... I blame porgie.
  7. I have checked the websites and are enthusiastic about it. Want to give it a try over there. I have been 7 times in Ireland and did the trip Rotterdam-Hull and Holyhead-Dublin and Dublin Killkee towing a trailer of 1350 Kg so I think I will be all right and about the fuel, I drive LPG (or the expensive petrol) so I hope I can get hold of the stuff in your country. About the "Big" shark, I have tried it in Cornwall and Alderney but I didn't have the luck but I lost one in Ireland so now I got the 'bug'.
  8. With the risk of being greedy, how is the tope fishing over there? I have planned a three week holiday so there must be plenty of time to catch something else. A porbeagle would be nice but the are almost extinct I think. But a couple of pollack or cod will do. And Alan I call you.
  9. Hi there Thanks for the reactions. I have visited Ian's website and send him a mail but he didn't reply :-( The weather is a serious thing in small boat fishing so I think I base myself at Lochaline as you told. I know the skate is a deepwater fish so how much anchor rope do I need and how is the tide over there?
  10. Hi there I want to do some skate fishing in the Oban region . I want to take my own boat (17ft Orca 100 HP) from Holland to Scotland (by trailer) and try my luck this summer. Are there any cheap camping sites there or are there any public accessible slipway's in the neighbourhood? I have done a lot of shark fishing in Ireland from me own boat and want to do something else.
