  1. cheers davy, i'm getting totally up to date reports just now, stuart cresswell and willie kennedy are there just now, though fishing from malindi not watamu. didn't have too good a day today, but i think they were balls out for a marlin and only got a few wahoo and dolphins + baitfish though there was some sails and marlin taken off watamu in a place called "the rips" les
  2. i'll see if i can sneak a couple of cans back for you mate, need to watch the weight on bags coming home or you get royally screwed at the airport coming home
  3. ever tried "tusker"?? kenya's national beer
  4. hi john..... they look brilliant, i like the mackerel one and the needlefish ones. i'm sure if the tides are right i'll get something on them from the shore, if not i'll be sight chucking them at dolphins and trevally if they come near enough the boat. just make whatever you feel john, don't go to any expense though totally grateful for this BTW les
  5. hi lenny, me and liam should be there again this easter due to an invite from ian burrett. liam is taking it serious this time and he's dragging me to the gym to do some weights for the next wee while think he wants YOU at the arm wrestling, don't ask me why nice to see you and neil again

  8. oh well davy, nothing there i won't get at some point this year
  9. i got that pic too, but i got one saying they were up to 6 species, wind up or what??
  10. cheers john, big strong hooks required mind
  11. i don't know what kind of fluffy things i would need john.... any suggestions?? last time i was there the only thing we could get baitfish on was a tiny black muppet about 1.5" long on a 1/0 hook, there was millions of small tuna all round the boat but this is all they would hit....strange
  12. i'm off to catch proper fish on poppers in 7 weeks, i'm away to kenya again and i've stocked up on a couple of surface lures to try the shore mark i fished last year when tony was almost spooled by something we still have no idea what it was, though my dough would be a trevally of some sort. i'm also going to try for dolphin (the fish) on a spinning rod and poppers from the boat, when you hook one on normal gear his mates usually come for a look, so i can sight cast lures to them, should be interesting so if i get a couple of those, wee bass in luce bay will seem a bit tame, but hey....... BTW, if you are training for a common skate better do plenty hyperextensions for your lumbar region incase davy has you getting a big girl on one of his "lochaline torture sticks"
  13. at last, someone who might stand a chance at the arm wrestling where's gareth when we need him
  14. paul, i would take john on my boat, but he's a jonah builds a nice rod though
  15. saw them at the edinburgh tattoo last year, very good....
  16. poormans "deadliest catch" cashing in methinks
  17. john, last time i was up liam and mark filled a bucket with coalies for bait from the slip and the jetty, fish to about 1.5lb they seemed to enjoy themselves
  18. listen, if you can't out drink me at your age how hard do you think it must be for liam?? remember, i still have photographic evidence from that night at the clash with tony, fastd and graham anyway. for guyfulla......... went to etive yesterday, left edinburgh with a gale blowing, got to the loch and it was flat calm fished 4 marks and it was pish, we had about 20 odd spurs mainly 2lbish, tony had one at 4lb and one at 5.5lb, loads of insize whiting, a couple of LSD's and a baby thornback about 2lb we expected better but enjoyed what we got and it never stopped pouring with rain from the minute we left the loch until we got home, with the amount of flooding on the road we thought we would need the boat to get home and i was going to change my name to noah!!!!
  19. is that an invitation?? i'll look into it, maybe get a couple of days there with the trouble maker in tow keep the guinness cold
  20. hi john, yes, i should be over about end of may-early june for some tope action, weather permitting of course are you fetching yourself up to davy's for a go at the big girls this year?? les
  21. because of the weather and time of year there doesn't seem to be many folks out catching. we always try to get a day out for skate between during the xmas/newyear holidays, managed out in a wee window in the weather last week on the 28th. travelled up and met my mates with their boat at oban took my oldest son liam and mate billy who's not caught a big flat thing before and gave him first strike which came after about 2 hours just as the tide was dying. it had 3 goes before he hooked it, a nice male fish of 107lb liam and billy returning him a little while later i had a bite on my new rod that jabee had built for me, had it on for about 1 minute and it came off, dropped back down and 2 minutes later hooked up a nice male fish of 117lb christening my new rod which is quite a bit lighter than my usual skate rods and it took it fine, no photos as i've had bigger and i like to get the ish back in the water ASAP bit later on liam hooked up and brought up a little butterfly of 22lb 10oz, pretty wee thing too....the skate that is my mates on another boat had 1 fish at 109lb for their skate virgin so it was mission accomplished for both boats i'm was hoping to get another trip in before i go back to work, but not on the current forecast hoping to get to etive on sunday though, fingers crossed les
  22. john, don't you know that inspite of north sea haddock stocks being at an alleged 30 year high they are still virtually extinct off the usual east scotland marks where 30 years ago we used to get 50-60lb bags of fish to 4lb loch fyne was the venue recently but it gets trawled by lazy retards wanting creel bait for the prawns. but, may-june this year i'm going to try the old soft ground marks off burnmouth for them, but with so much prawn trawling round these marks i'm not holding out much hope maybe around the wrecks would be a best bet got a mark at dunbar where i might get you your porgie, just need the weather and bait
  23. hi john, i've had both of those, what could you swap me for them?? i've not had a catfish(wolf) or an anglerfish
  24. the origional zziplex sea raider is a quality rod for downtiding or pirking, cut the handle to make it 9'6" the tip is quite stiff unlike a normal uptider, very pokey further down the blank, i've had ling to nearly 26lb while wrecking with mine..... no probs
