    Bad boats

Given what you have just said cliff, and a very good read it was too, can you categorise my boat, please be brutally honest, and does anyone have any info on this type of boat or maker? its a port issac powerglide 23ft with a 110 hp inboard shaft drive
  8. not jealous!! love orlando and all the food!
  9. no just belted out as it is, i tend to wind in a little as it hits the bottom to try and straighten it all out, may not make a difference but it satisfys me! lol
  10. was out again last night nothing, the waves were too big imho, last week i fished it 4 nights and caught 2 fish on 1 night, so hardly decimating the local population.
  11. yes a running ledger with a flowing trace is what i use 20lb main line and 10lb trace sand eel attached through the head and out the body and held on with elastic, they dont know they are hooked until half way in, then they take off for the horizion!
  12. fish were caught on frozen sand eel ammo red packet quite small in size, weight on a sliding red boom then a swivel that your lighter line is attached to about 4-5 foot long, just cast about 30-40ft from shore set rod in sand and wait for all hell to break loose!
  13. Roag, you still havent answered my question? only avoided it! how many sea trout have you kept in your lifetime in numbers please?as far as the law is concerned i have permission from the landowner whose loch the sea trout runs into to fish it and the small river, but as this was on a public beach, who should i seek permission from?
  14. So arrest me, you know nothing of the local population of sea trout so please do not come on here and judge, crikey just because ayreshire has a problem, so what? we have rivers up here as little as 10 miles apart that hold good stocks and the others nothing? your comment means nothing? i have fished for sea trout for the first time last year at the end of the season i have caught 20 to date and re-leased 15, the others were kept for the table, all ate and enjoyed, we have no commercial netsman up here fishing for them, man and seals are there only predator, i do a lot of sea fishing from my boat and keep next to nothing as i dont enjoy the taste of cod etc as much, just a qucik question roag fisher how many sea trout have you kept in your life? now be honest as i have. Oh and norrie, your more than welcome mate, give us a roar when your planning up?
  15. it was on a tidal beach does this make any difference??
  16. leon ive had one of them for years! in all honesty though we only keep 2 or 3 every season and have a few freinds round for dinner, we put almost all back as they are all hen fish making to spawn.
  17. Had a good do on the sea trout last night up here on a local beach armed with 9-10 foot rods and plenty of sandeels. Been out most of this week but havent hit it off, until last night, caught 2 one at 3lb and another cracker at 4lb fishing was good conditions were better t shirt weather! :icon_eek: what a buzz fishing these things, when they take its only one way you go, you run for the sea and hold on, pound for pound cant be beaten!! heres a few pics, 3 in total 2 for me and 1 for my fishing buddy. this cant be scotland? first one on the beach at 2lb for my mate my first at 3lb second and best of the night at 4lb all 3 ablsaloutly belting night, when these things hit your rod goes flying across the sand and you have to chase them, some guys up the beach caught 2 at 4lb and 5lb, but we have had them up to 8lb and even had some straighten our hooks so they must be there over the 10lb figure. Sorry all fish were kept, we had been out all week and caught 1 small one, so these three are for the table, sorry if this offends but i like to eat them!
  18. Dave it didnt really spoil mine thanks, as i know what good fishing can be like, but i felt sorry for the other 10 folk who had never been out before and caught next to nothing, put it this way they wont be itching to try fishing again for a while! funny thing is thought someone form here operated out there but i forgot to check before i left or id have looked you up! i knew what i was in for as soon as i seen the rods and rigs we were going to be using. also watching there finder as we steamed out i saw a mass of fish just of the bottom which they pointed at but ignored otherwise nothing else showed on it all day. all the best william
  19. i was out fishing there a 4 weeks ago went on one of the tourist trap boats a catamaran, 20 of us on it, what a joke i caught 6 fish all less than a pound, paid extra to try for shark as did everyone else, lukily i got a try at it but the others didnt as the crew didnt bother to set up anymore rigs, some people caught nothing the boat didnt move all day even thought the fishing was bad, very bad charter!
  20. it sure does youve got to applaued the chopper guys out there also, they had a very small fuel window to dispatch the pump.
  21. I remeber your post back then CJS2, you guys are in my thoughts and prayers keep your chin up for both of your sakes.
  22. Know the boat and the skipper there was apparantly twelve foot of water in the hold at its worst!! glad there all ok!
