hi, l know how you feel stopped fishing for ten years (until daughter went her own way) on returning all l read was about carp,l bought magazines and read everything l could, made load of mistakes but lads on the bank put me right,dont use spade end hooks,use hooks with inturned eye, and learn how to tie knotless knot,and grinner knot for hook, ask someone will show you,your rigs have to be safe, so fish arn't tied to lead if you snap off, winter isn't good,l fish for pike,much easier to catch,good luck.
