  1. hi socksy i used to use hi-betaine when carp fishing ,but i always used bait soak(concentrate fluid)just pop your chosen bait in fluid for 24hrs and use ,the stuff i used was made by nash baits, get it from any decent tackle shop. let us know how it goes good luck
  2. got the answer for the cold hands prob. the missus brought me some HOT GEL hand warmers last year and they are the muts-nuts. if you dont know wot im on about, there little gel filled packets that have a small metal disc inside when flexed the metal causes a rection with the gel and causes instant heat tha lasts for upto 40 mins. you get two in a pack and they can be recharged upto 100 times by boiling in hot water until the gel runs clear again. brilliant buy at about £10 for a box of two hot gel handwarmers made by stesco hope this helps
  3. so in simple terms how do you edit your threads to include pics??i too am like thurso when it comes to computers

know what ya mean kent,we booked a trip in jan 04 out of portishead(bristol)following a brilliant write up in the mag you mentioned only to find it was writen in the previous october, needless to say the fishing wernt that special £40 bait to catch the last yting in the channel, not only that the pics they show are taken months before the issue is realeased, how many times have you been mid-channel fishing in november in shorts and shades
  5. cheers guys that helps , just got to get a good day out to put it into practice now. how ever toerag i disagree with you about the best bass when the tide is at its peak,in my experience the best bass come at the start and end of tidal race,it seems the little ones become prolific in the fastest part of tide, strange how things can differ from one area to the next, still keeps us all interested dont it!
  6. might be up for it rob,ran it by er in doors and got thumbs up,when in 2005 are you looking at? give us a rough idea of total cost (including transport costs)and i will see if its a goer or not
  7. with the new year approaching fast ive just been going thro me box of wrecking lures/shads ect. that prompted me to ask a few questions, when i use the weighted shads i normally fish them on a flying collar to about 12/15 trace with very good sucess, however when the tide starts to ease i find they are catching the wreck more than fish. how can i get over this problem? coz its getting xpensive also are there any new lures out for next season that look worth feeding to hms rusty?
  8. there is a charter boat fishing out of whitby that does just that http://www.chieftaincharters.com it is licensed for 120miles has accomadation on board and when at sea you fish untill you need to sleep then get up and carry on.try talking to the owners they may be able to give you some help/advice,good luck in your venture what ever the outcome ,nice to see people making a change from the norm! uptide rigs

we are both of the same background abu,i too started on the rivers and lakes, thing is you may as well sell all your coarse gear now coz you wont go back to it after a years worth of boat fishing, but as for catching nothing big an 8lb bass is nothing to be sniffed at,all depends on wot tackle you use the lighter the better i think get the most sport possible out of your fish.for example when catching makeral for bait try using your carp rod now thats sport!

it really all depends on wot type of ground/size of tides/baits target species. where/when do you do most of your uptide fishing??

thanks for the links,so you didnt want to move then?its 27degrees there at the moment hows the sunbathing going on the IOW .lol.
  19. na nothing complicated about it , if they didnt have any tips or catch reports it shouldnt be in this section, i supose there would be one tip DONT GET CAUGHT maybe that would qulify??
  20. hi guys after info on sea fishing in cyprus, dad has just emergrated there (larnaca) and brought a small boat, just got the seal of approval from her in doors to go on a jolly,so any locations tackle/bait tips would be greatly recieved , oh im off there in april if thet helps apperently when tuna start running??
  21. oh something else i picked up last time out,try to fish behind the wheel house(or central if fishing off the back) you will find theres a lot less movemnt in these spots ,hope this helps .but as huge said it does pass with time but never get complacent you never know when a good ground baitng session is gonna happen
  22. i have been boat fishing for nearly 20 years now and never suffered from the old green face until two trips ago strange how it seems funnier when your taking the rise out of somebody else the novelty disapears when the tide turns on you (no pun intended) any how my tips , 1.stay off the beer the night before 2.eat a good breakfast (nothing worse than heaving on empty guts) 3.keep an eye on the horizon or a distant ship if mid-chanel 4.invest in travel sickness pills (over the counter at boots) 5.dont gloat when your mates trying to inspect last nights vindaloo coz pretty soon it might be you
  23. hi guys ,good discussion!probably had more postings than some of the fishing related topics (haha) just as a sujestion from a new member who knows a lot about nothing why dont you create a section especialy for political B.S. and leave this section for things related to fishing,or is that me being to idealistic AGAIN? good god ive turnt into Alf Garnet!
