  1. Hi all, OK time for the results of todays comp. First I want to say a huge thank you too all of those who took part, the sponsors and especially Bloatedcod who has helped me get prizes and run the event. Thank you. A special mention for Jason who helped a great deal. Cheers. 21 anglers took part in todays sunny competition with fairly lumpy seas. A staggering £820 was raised in sponsorship which is to be added to the main paddle charity pot. In true paddle form, the event was relaxed and friendly with some good natured banter. Fish caught were wrasse, polluck, pout, macks, garfish, bass, sole and gurnard. So species points were making a difference in the results. 1st Place went to Ally Harvey (406pts) who battled hard in the last few hours to catch up with Sam (381pts) in second place. 3rd place to George Cunningham who very genoerously sponsored the event in its fourth year. Tronix also sponsored a best junior prize which went to 15year old Richard (132pts) closely on his heels was the talented 7 year old Paige Harvey who had 132 points. It always makes me happy to see the juniors doing so well. Its worth noting that these juniors beat the majority of the adult entrants. The raffle had many prizes to give away and i hope that all of you are happy with your prizes. The first prize in the raffle was a Pelican fishing kayak generously donated by Pelican. This was drawn first and won by a very happy Alan Stewart. Well done and I hope to see you bobbing about at sea soon. So, next years event starts to be planned next week and i hope to make it even more of a success. Finally, the paddle round the pier event is on all day on Sunday at Hove lawns. Its FREE to come along, live bands (Letz Zep headlining), bar, food, hundreds of events, kids / family events etc. I will be there so please come along and suppert the event while having a great day out. I will give a total event update on Tuesday after all the paperworks are tied up. Thank you all for taking part. I hugely appreciate it.
  2. Hi all, Its that time of year again and the PRTP planning is well underway. 4. Nah, these are proper waves in Brighton the other weekend. http://www.flickr.com/photos/underwaterima...57606025590850/ ;-) SDC
  5. Firstly, a huge thankyou to everyone who came to fish and made this event a resounding success. Once again the angling community have done us proud. It involved a lot of work and effort, not just in getting baits and making a long journey in some cases, but gathering such a fantastic sum in sponsorship. Nick Power deserves particular mention for effort here, not only for raising an incredible £230, rather for the manner in which he achieved it...... something about "dressing up" down his local and THEN threatening to undress to get more- amazing determination I'm glad to report very few people blanked and 11 anglers managed to make three figure points totals in this catch and release competition. Species caught included Smoothhound, Bass, Pout, Eel, Sole, Thornback, Plaice, Bream, Whiting and Mackerel. Coming in at third with 445 points was ALAN MITCHEL, Second with 619 points was STEVE PALMER but first with an excellent 729 points and the winner of the magnificent PRTP TROPHY by master trophy maker Mike Shorer is :- JAY WELLFARY Well deserved after losing his rod and having his reel smashed by a particularly frisky smoothhound (luckily retrieved and the fish landed on a size 4 hook!) A trip back to the next day for Jay for the presentation where he'll be joined by JAMES DYER, the drawer of the raffle ticket for the superb Perception Fishing Kayak (www.perception.co.uk) - we'll be expecting to see the fishing photos from many years of safe and successful angling from it I hope. Smoothhounds made the bulk of the points over all, though there was some determined eel angling by Robin and pout angling by defending champion Simon Pickles from opposite ends of the arm. I will leave individuals to tell their own stories but I hope everyone enjoyed the experience. The anglers raised a staggering £1400 which goes to the central Paddle Round the Pier Charity Fund. The main paddle event held in Brighton & Hove raised £20,000 and still counting. This is despite extremely poor weather. The PRTP charities are the real winners, with all money to be split equally between RNLI, Chestnut Tree House (childrens hospice) and Surfaid International I never dreamed when i created this comp that we would raise so much cash. Finally, but certainly not least, I'd like to thank all those who generously sponsored us; Perception Kayaks, The Tackle Box, Lagoon Bait and Tackle Hove, Prime Angling Worthing, Dvice Products, PENN, Mike Harwood's customers, Dragon Signs (Mighty Bright rod tape makers), Compass Marine Lancing, Gardiner and Scardifield Lancing, Moonfleet Rigs and WSF. .... without whom we could never make this happen. HOPE TO SEE YOU NEXT YEAR and thankyou again

  7. Hello mate, I live up the road and apparently its all off limits. A few people have ignored the warnings and fished there but its sealed off. Sad as i quite liked it there. UWI
  8. Cheers mate, I will speak to my fabricator and then see if he needs to demolish one. It would be great to get these up and running. Especially in remembrance of Alan. Thanks Sean
  9. Hi Norrie, Nothing stopping me apart from the set up financing. I did have two of them. One was to be dismantled by the fabricator to make more. Trouble is some oik stole all my fishing gear from the garage including one of all the three types of disgorger. So now i only have one left which i use so dont want to break it. Perhaps i should pull my finger out and look into it all again. Cheers Sean
  10. I spoke to Alan Taylor about these wonderful gadgets many years ago, i hadnt been on this forum long. He was quite frank about his health and said he would be happy for me to start remaking these and marketing them here in the uk. On the gentlemen's agreement that a percentage of sales go to Sonja. A great idea i felt then and do now. Sadly i never did do it but still have the fabricators lined up and always intended to do it one day. Im still using mine on Shoreham arm to help out other anglers.
  11. Hi all, Were up and running on this years PRTP Charity Fishing Open. We already have an amazing heap of prizes for the raffle including another brand spanking new Perception Fishing Kayak. The first prize for winning the comp is lots of kudos from the other anglers and the posession of that magnificent hand crafted silver trophy by Mike Shorer. Im going to have to prize it from Judges grasp in time. Full details at the link below. Sponsor forms, rules and the poster are all available to download from the following link. Please print out the poster and put up in the local shops and help spread the word. All proceeds go to the paddle total paddle weekends charity pot and then is split equally between the RNLI, The Chestnut Tree Childrens Hospice and SurfAid international. We gave away £12,000 last year and the RNLI sent a letter stating that their share was roughly the equivalent of saving three lives at sea. Well worth it. http://www.paddleroundthepier.com/fishing.html Thanks all UWI
  12. Rob, I did send an email direct to your office. No reply yet. UWI
  13. Us lot at the Shoreham Angling Squad use this outfit. Pricey with postage so worth a few of you clubbing together. Always very good bait though. UWI
  14. Evening all, I done the fishathon and very cold it was too. I have made a 15minute mini programme of the silliness on the West Arm. Sound levels are a bit poor but visit the link below to download the low res file. (17mb) There is also an introduction on the Dvice if any of you have not seen one yet. http://www.shorehamangling.co.uk/sas/newss...hathonnov07.htm Thanks UWI P.S. If your having trouble viewing the file. Download Quicktime movie player for free here http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
  15. I take the silence as a no then. Shame as this is a great event. Even if your not taking part keep up to date with the live reports here http://www.worldseafishing.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=26 60 Anglers minimum are taking part including one fella in Iceland. Fully expecting him to outcatch us easily. However he wont have me and two others cooking up grub as well as fishing. Piri Piri Chicken, Sausage and red onion caserole and the good old burgers. So far i have raised £30 in sponsorship. All of the cash raised goes to the Teenage Cancer Trust. The reports written up are quite often very funny. Especially as the night draws on a Mike gets a tad tiddly on whiskey. Cheers UWI

  22. Cheers mate, its was a good weekend, even the sea played fair on Sunday morning. Hope to have the event in the press soon. Sean
  23. The weekends event was a big success despite a very lumpy sea on Saturday. One of my rescue divers spent the afternoon chucking up over the side. We raised £12k and counting over the two days. Sadly the fishing comp fell on its arse. Despite £2000 of prizes to raffle away and the hand made trophy worth £1900 only six anglers turned up!!! Devastated is an understatement although those six did raise nearly £400 between them!! Picture of the races here if you fancy a peek. The kayak was won by judge of the wsf forum who also won the comp. Jammy bugger. http://tinyurl.com/2996ze Sean
