  5. One thaught guys is that the safety standard today for charter boats is so much higher than the past.given all the life saving equip.every second year out of water survey, hull thickness, stabillity manual, incline tests and for us epirbs, gmdss radio, and the skippers tickets and medicals. surveyers, insurance for the hull and passenger. m.c.a and the groups <m.c.a-rya-mecal> that cert. the boats its a fine line between profit and loss.add this to a lack of fish in areas and bingo you have moved into the red...
  6. hi bob i have not set a fixed date yet but i am taking names so i will put yours down mate.i was thinking 9th april-16th start kirkwall return kirkwall.the price is £150 per person s/c. i am going over for the boat this next week so i will get you them bitts and bobs we spoke about

  8. yeh it should be a good one, just ordered sat t.v and phone for the boat so should be able to keep A.N in the picture.
  9. i reckon we should get some no bad cod, ling, pollock, conger. these wrecks have as far as i know not had any angling boats on them so who knows what we could get?.....,we would steam out to the west side of the long hole 40ish miles east of orkney and work our way back in to the north isles, maybe bob will give us a cup o tea???.i cant say you will have the best weeks cod fishing but no one can say you wont.
  10. i have some places on a trip east of orkney.the plan is to go 30-40 miles east and try some of the wrecks out there.i am running this trip at a very low price to see if the wrecks are any good. if anyone is interested you can get me on www.breckonmarinecharters.co.uk
  11. Hi bob, kevin grieve skippers the SHARON ROSE<my old boat i skippered> A creel boat from stromness had ago just before xmas with a long line but blanked,if you know bill macarthur <think it is sanday or stronsay he lives> he is your man he has has caught more of the critters than anyone in orkney, start point is suppose to be good and not far from you.if you fancy ago give me a shout we will be in kirkwall shortly,we have all the gear onboard-the plan was to try west side of hoy but we have not had a chance. f you need any geer we have hooks and traces onboard the boat,
  12. we had ago with them at the deep water last year but they didnt do anything out there, the line boats use them with great results, squidlys like them if you jig them about.some of our divers use them and reckon they are some bright under water i think maybe just to bright, think smaller ones would be better myself..
  13. We are planning a discount trip for six days east of orkney, the idea is to try some of the wrecks east for cod...and any other bitts.the plan would be to go east for acouple of days then steam back over night to the north isles and try some of the local grounds and do a bit of island hopping.if anyone is interested you can contact me through http://www.breckonmarinecharters.co.uk. cheers bs
