  1. At 2.90 a pint I would expect them to take a net with them on the hook and catch the damn fish for me! 2.30 at Mal Storey in Kidderminster and I think thats too much!
  2. Going to try the Worcestershire Stour myself, not fished it before but its only just up the road, going up to Cookley just North of kidderminster. Many people not from this area dont know the river I'm told but its only about 20 - 25 yards wide, shallow (2-4 feet) in most places and pretty fast flowing. It used to have a reputation for being very polluted but has picked up this last 10 years and I'm told by some more experienced locals that there are specimen Grayling and dace in there!!! I am only a relative novice and have not ever netted a grayling, well to be honest not fised for them before, am thinking of trying various methods, maybe start with a bit of freelining, ant advice you have would be gratefully recieved!
  3. I'm old enough to remember what it was like before Maggie! The country effectively run by unions rather than the elected government! The country almost bankrupt and having to be bailed out by the IMF like a banana republic! Britain badly needed to correct the damage done by the previous Labour administration. Maggie did just that. However I agree that, as often happens, the pendulum swung back too far. Maggie finally lost my support when she announced "We are a grandmother"! I am just old enough to remember the pre Maggie days also, the major difference between her`s and the current labour governments skirmishes with the unions is that Maggie managed to dent thier power but in the process was responsible for country wide riots and instability leading to quite a number of deaths on picket lines, the current government has managed to peg them back considerably through negotiation without (generally) the riotsetc that led to loss of life. A non voting hypocrite!!
  4. Can anyone offer some advice to this novice..... Have only started course angling earlier these year. I have fished my local Rivers (Severn and Stour) and the Staffs-Worcs canal which is just 25 metres from my house. So far I have caught fish on every trip! all be it only upto a couple of pounds but strangely I seem to have more success in the size stakes in the canal. Last trip there I bagged a 2lb Perch which I am told is pretty good for a canal. I have bagged a reasonable Tench in there also but have recently spotted some pretty sizeable ones, could anyone advise me what the best tench bait is likely to be for murky canal tenching at this time of year. I caught my only one in August on red/white maggots on a size 16 in the margins but have had no luck with them since. Thanks demon
  5. Well, from what I can see things can only get better, if it really is true about the Jameses then the Association is better off without them and can hopefully now move forward. I think it may be a good idea in future to have the books audited monthly!!! there cannot be a huge amount of transactions and an uditor would charge about £80 for 2 hours work, good value I reckon if a third of all previous expenditure went in 2 peoples salaries! - just a thought.
