    diawa SL30

i've got an SL20 and that easily puts the abu into the shade when chasing bigger fish. had conger to 27lb and smoothies to 12lb on the SL20, no problem whatsoever, dread to think what that would have done to my ABU. my friends got an SL30 and loves it, i found it a bit large to get my hands round when casting and a bit unbalanced (big reel), but a serious winching machine. if you still need the distance the Abu gives then i'd look at the new version of the SL's. think its called SLX30SH, same guts and brawn, buts more bearings for better casting distance.
  3. just bought some plugs to try for some bass. one is reccomended ideal for "walking the dog" ? obviously some way of retrieving it, help ? also, how do i attach them properly ? should i make a loop at the end of my line ? am i alright attaching it straight to my main line (12lb mono)or do i need a leader of some sort ? lots of questions sorry ! first time i've tried with plugs
  4. want to try plugging for bass this year, never tried before. heard lots of people use braid instead of mono, never used braid before and need some advice before i purchase, also any idea what plugs to buy ? seems to be hundreds about, i've seen people using rapalas to good efect but all i hear about at the moment is surface poppers ? help !!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. i got a headlamp from veals, made by m.f.a, has 3 led's and a halogen. you can switch from one to the other easily and i'm very happy with it. has got the usual heavy battery though. a friend who i fish with has 2 cheap l.e.d haedlamps which he got from Argos. cost him about a tenner each, second one is just incase the first one breaks/dies etc, but still using the first one with no problems. thinking of buying one myself as a back up light.
