Hello again, I've been following this thread with interest on two accounts or it could be three. I have never had a single problem with any Shakespeare item. In fact a Salmon rod that I own was once used by a professional on the Spey and in his own words, "Was a better rod than any that he owned." He had gear from the "Top makers." Maybe mine was a one off, but I doubt it. I suspect that it is the modern brand name syndrome. Next, you spoke about the North Western blanks. They were wonderful and when the home built rod was used, do you remember the pride that was felt? So that set off another train of thought. I have decided to re-ring my old glass boat rod but I cannot find anywhere where I can find roller guides for sale.

I will have a great advantage when I get over there, I will be able to see what fish are about and even hand feed them. I'm joining friends who have a diving company over there. I have a 16ft "Shetland model," boat that I have converted back to sail and I'm working on a way to get it over there. Not brave enough any more to go round Biscay so I am thinking of the French waterways. When I was younger I thought That I could walk on water.

Hello Folks, I am very new but I will start off with a question. I will shortly be moving from Shetland to Gozo. Does anyone have any tips on methods to use, gear requirements etc.? In fact a general chat would be ok. Bresail.
